At around 7:30 p.m. on February 24, residents living on Nguyen Van Tra Street, Hamlet 1, Vinh Loc B Commune, Binh Chanh District (HCMC) discovered a fierce fire and smoke breaking out at a row of factories located in Vuon Xoai Alley.
Many people nearby pulled water pipes and used mini fire extinguishers to put out the fire, while shouting for everyone to escape from the burning area. However, the fire continued to spread and engulfed three adjacent factories.
Command Center 114 - Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police (PC07) dispatched many fire fighting vehicles and dozens of officers and soldiers to the scene to put out the fire. The soldiers deployed fire fighting plans from many directions.
At the scene, red flames engulfed three factories including a wood, glue, and helmet factory. Black smoke billowed dozens of meters high, spreading throughout the residential area, causing panic among residents.
The fire also caused widespread power outages, disrupting people's lives.
It was not until after 10 p.m. that police finally brought the fire under control. The cause of the fire and the damage are still being investigated.
