At around 12 noon the same day, this farm unfortunately experienced an electrical short circuit that caused the cooling fan system to stop working.
In just a few hours in hot weather, thousands of chickens suffocated and died, leaving the farm owner unable to react.
"About 10,000 chickens out of a total of 14,000 died, causing huge losses. The government mobilized communal and village officials and local people to help Mr. Pho deal with the dead chickens to salvage his property. We also posted information on mass media and loudspeakers in neighboring communes so that people could come and buy chickens," Mr. Dieu informed.
Authorities and local people helped Mr. Pho's family butcher chickens to sell to salvage their assets (Photo: TL).
Currently, each chicken weighs about 2kg after being cleaned, and is sold for 50,000 VND/chicken. People have supported to buy about 50% of the damaged chickens.
According to the commune chairman, Mr. Pho has been running a chicken farm for about 3-4 years now. The farm owner has been raising this batch of chickens for nearly 3 months. In about 20 days, the chickens will be of sufficient weight to be sold on the market, but unfortunately, the above incident occurred.
