Choose a major taught entirely in English
“When I applied for university, I decided to choose the advanced program in electrical and electronic engineering taught entirely in English. I saw this as an opportunity to challenge myself. I tried to improve my foreign language skills so that I could complete my studies,” Tiep shared. To meet the requirements of the advanced program, Tiep had to take English classes in the first semester of his first year. Before the end of the first semester, Tiep registered for the exam and achieved an IELTS certificate of 6.5. Because he spent time studying English, Tiep studied one semester slower than his classmates who already had an IELTS certificate. In order to graduate with his classmates, Tiep registered for an additional subject each semester.

A good English foundation helps Tiep conveniently learn specialized documents and lectures from learning resources of famous universities around the world. Tiep said that the school's curriculum requires students to invest a lot of time, complete assignments and projects well. Tiep always pays attention to the lectures and notes important content, proactively asks teachers or friends when encountering problems that he does not understand. In addition, Tiep also consults additional documents and lectures online to improve his knowledge. "I often learn about the research field of the lecturer to do the project. They play a very important role in guiding, supporting and sharing many experiences about learning and working methods for me," said Man Tiep.

Desire to study in depth about artificial intelligence
When doing his first project in his third year of university, Man Tiep was introduced by Dr. Pham Viet Cuong, Deputy Head of the Department of Automation Control at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, to do a project in the direction of applying artificial intelligence (AI). At that time, AI was a new field for Tiep, the amount of new knowledge required him to research and learn to complete the project. Thanks to the dedicated guidance of Dr. Viet Cuong, Man Tiep gradually became familiar with knowledge related to AI and did well in the project. After the first project, Tiep was recruited to work as an intern for about 3 months as an algorithm research engineer at Viettel High-Tech Industry Corporation.

In the near future, Tiep will study graduate programs in AI and data. “The journey to school is not always easy and favorable, when facing difficulties, I always remember my initial dreams and expectations for the major to use that as motivation to strive to continue on the path of conquering knowledge”, Man Tiep expressed. Dr. Pham Viet Cuong, Deputy Head of the Department of Automatic Control, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, commented: “Man Tiep has a very respectful attitude towards teachers at school, is sociable and cheerful with friends in class. Tiep has good learning ability, is hard-working, diligent, and works systematically, so he ensures the progress of completing work. Tiep is the first student that I have guided to win a gold medal in graduating from the advanced program in electrical and electronic engineering. I believe that Czechoslovakia will go far in the future".
