This is one of the activities towards the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Committee for Solidarity and Cooperation in Asia-Africa-Latin America (October 19, 1956 - October 19, 2026).

Speaking at the opening of the discussion, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen The Ky, former member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Council for Theory and Criticism of Literature and Art, Chairman of the Vietnam Committee for Solidarity and Cooperation in Asia, Africa and Latin America, said that in the mid-20th century, the national liberation movement exploded strongly in many places around the world, especially in Asian and African countries, leading to the birth of many organizations working for the goals of peace, solidarity, friendship, national independence, progress and social justice.

According to Mr. Nguyen The Ky, originating from the long-standing tradition of building and defending the country of the Vietnamese people; joining the strong flow of the times, linking the cause of protecting the independence and freedom of the Vietnamese people with the struggle of people in countries around the world, on October 19, 1956, the Vietnam Asian Solidarity Committee (now the Vietnam Committee for Solidarity and Cooperation in Asia-Africa-Latin America) was born and became one of the founding and active members of the Asian-African People's Solidarity Organization (AAPSO).

Over nearly 70 years of formation and development, the Vietnam Committee for Solidarity and Cooperation in Asia, Africa and Latin America has made important contributions to the struggle for national liberation, national unification, construction and protection of the Fatherland of Vietnam, contributing to strengthening the friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the Vietnamese people and the people of Asia, Africa and Latin America; actively mobilizing, gaining sympathy, support and multi-faceted assistance from the people of Asia, Africa and Latin America in particular and the people of the world in general for Vietnam, enhancing the role, position and prestige of Vietnam at regional and world people's forums.

Proud of the efforts and achievements made over the past nearly 70 years; with deep gratitude to the leaders and people of Asian-African-Latin American countries; grateful to generations of leaders, experts of the Committee and partners, the Committee collected, researched, compiled and published the book "Vietnam Committee for Solidarity and Cooperation in Asia-Africa-Latin America: Milestones, Friends".

Mr. Pham Van Chuong shares about the content of the book.

Introducing the book's content, Mr. Pham Van Chuong, former Chairman of the Committee, said that the book was introduced to readers in two languages ​​(Vietnamese and English). The book has 6 main parts, on the ideology of international solidarity; the process of formation, operation and development of the Vietnam Committee for Solidarity and Cooperation in Asia-Africa-Latin America; inter-regional and national Asian-African-Latin American solidarity organizations; Vietnam-Africa cooperation through the periods; introducing the leaders and typical faces of the Committee through the periods.

In the discussion, comments and evaluation of the book, delegates welcomed the compilation and publication of the book, saying that the book highlights the memorable journeys, loyal international friends, and friendship over more than two-thirds of a century of formation and development of the Vietnam Committee for Solidarity and Cooperation in Asia, Africa and Latin America; the Committee's contributions to the goals of peace, solidarity, friendship, national independence, social progress and sustainable development in the Asia, Africa and Latin America region in particular and the world in general.

The book has historical, cultural and educational value not only for today's generation but also for future generations, helping to look back at the glorious past; promoting achievements and valuable lessons as indispensable provisions to move towards a bright future.
