Attending the ceremony were Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia and representatives of leaders of a number of departments, ministries, branches, agencies and units; collectives and individuals awarded prizes; theorists, critics; artists and literary and artistic public.

At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen The Ky, Chairman of the Central Council for Theory and Criticism of Literature and Arts, said that with a deep understanding of the viewpoints, orientations and policies of the Party and State on literature and arts, over the past 20 years, the Council has both promoted theoretical research and summarized practical experiences, and attached importance to training and fostering to improve awareness, knowledge and skills for the staff working in directing and managing cultural and artistic activities.

Assigned by the Central Party Secretariat, from 2012 to present, the Council has organized 10 rounds of selection and awarding prizes to high-quality theoretical and critical works and projects; commending publishing and press agencies with outstanding achievements in the work of propagating, promoting and creating literature and art - "a very important and particularly delicate field of culture" as affirmed by Resolution 23-NQ/TW of the Politburo.

Along with the review and awarding activities, at the beginning of each year, the Council widely announces the reception of good quality manuscripts or detailed outlines from authors nationwide for review and possible funding support for publication. This direction contributes to motivating and encouraging theoretical and critical writers, especially young writers, to take care of nurturing and building a team of theoretical and critical writers for many years to come.

According to Mr. Nguyen The Ky, in order to select, evaluate and decide to award annual prizes to high-quality works of literary and artistic theory and criticism, the Council especially values the academic quality, novelty, approach and research methods of the authors when addressing specific issues, phenomena, trends or literary and artistic cases, especially the contribution of the winning work to creative practice; theoretical and critical research; promotion and reception of the value of the work.

According to the report of the Central Council for Theory and Criticism of Literature and Art, in the 2023 awarding period, 118 works (including 34 books and 84 articles) were submitted by agencies and units to the Council for awarding consideration.

Based on the results of the preliminary subcommittees and the Selection Council, the Steering Committee for awarding prizes for works of theory and criticism of literature and art published in 2023 has reviewed and proposed that the Chairman of the Central Council for Theory and Criticism of Literature and Art decide to award prizes to 25 works. Of which, level B has 4 works including: Book "Sketching Vietnamese cinema in the period of renovation and integration" by author Ngo Phuong Lan; book "Neo chu" by author Nguyen Hoai Nam; book "Nguyen Binh - The Soul of the Nation shines on the paper" by author Nguyen Si Dai; book "The art of decorating communal houses in Binh Duong" by author Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep. In addition, there are 12 level C works and 9 works of Encouragement level.

The Steering Committee unanimously proposed that the Chairman of the Council decide to award prizes to 18 press and publishing agencies and units with outstanding achievements in propaganda activities for literary and artistic theory and criticism in 2023.
