Parents do not hesitate to "stand in the sun" waiting for their children

On June 6, nearly 99,000 candidates in Ho Chi Minh City entered the fierce "race" of the 10th grade public high school entrance exam. Thousands of parents also put aside all work to take their children to the exam and patiently waited for their children in the hot weather.

This morning, June 6, the candidates completed the first exam, Literature, with a duration of 120 minutes. The topic of the exam was "The heartbeat is not just for me". The exam consisted of 3 parts: Reading comprehension (3 points), Social argumentation (3 points) and Literary argumentation (4 points).

Most candidates said the test was moderate and approachable. Candidate Nguyen Minh Dang, at Truong Tho Secondary School (Truong Tho, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) shared: "I did quite well on the test, I feel confident with my answer. The test was within our ability. The Reading Comprehension section was about the Central Youth Union's "Youth for the Sea and Islands" program, and understanding the soldiers in the Truong Sa archipelago. In the Literature Essay section, I chose the topic about the feelings of the character Thu for her father in the work "Ivory Comb" by writer Nguyen Quang Sang and related it to life or another work to see the meaning of family affection for each person. In addition, there was an additional option for candidates to write about the deep feelings that poetry evoked in them. For the Social Essay section, I wrote a paragraph on the topic of knowing how to think with the heart."

Candidate Thao Nhi at Truong Tho Secondary School (Truong Tho, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) said: "I like the essay writing about "thinking with the heart" the most. I find this question easy to develop, depending on each person's opinion, they can give appropriate opinions. I think I did about 70% of the test."

Mr. Vo Kim Bao, Nguyen Du Secondary School, District 1, commented: "The test questions are close to the candidates, not confusing but still have a certain differentiation. Candidates are familiar with the way the questions are set and the structure of the questions from the previous school year's test, so they have positive feedback when doing the test. With the topic "Heartbeat is not just for me", candidates have many opportunities to express their knowledge, thoughts, and feelings because this is a topic close and practical to them."

After a stressful exam, candidates leave the exam room and are welcomed by their relatives with a warm hug, a cool bottle of water, and questions. In the 4.0 technology era, parents also have the option of filming and taking pictures to capture memorable moments of their children.

Ms. Phan Thu (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) said: "My house is about 4km from my child's exam site, but I still wait for him to pick me up. The exam is at 2pm in the afternoon, but I have to be at the exam site by 12:30pm. Therefore, I take the opportunity to wait for my child to come out and ask if the questions are easy or difficult, how he did the test, take a photo of him when he leaves, then take him home to eat, rest a bit, and then go back."

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Hang (68 years old, Truong Tho ward, Thu Duc, HCMC) stood in the hot sun waiting for her grandchild to take the 10th grade entrance exam.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Hang (68 years old, Truong Tho ward, Thu Duc, HCMC) said: "My house is nearby, in the morning I took my grandchild to the exam school and then I came back. But after coming back, I felt nauseous. My grandchild finished the exam at 10 o'clock but at 9 o'clock I ran to the school to wait. It was too hot, but I had to wait. My grandchild had a much harder time taking the exam at school than I did."

During the 10th grade entrance exam, Ho Chi Minh City arranged testing locations that were convenient for candidates to travel to, however, some parents were still not at ease, waiting at the gate for their children or arriving very early to pick them up.

It can be seen that at every important milestone in a student's life, parents always cherish and accompany their children. Parents are a solid "rear" for their children to study and take exams with peace of mind. Before the exam, parents take them to extra classes and review. During the exam, parents worry about food, nutrition and wait. They also do the work of encouraging, comforting and rewarding. Parents also have many other tasks under the name of "loving their children".
