The hashtag "Bring De Gea back" trended after Andre Onana made a mistake in Man Utd's 3-3 draw with Galatasaray.
According to AS , #BringBackDeGea is one of the most popular hashtags on X - the social network formerly known as Twitter - on November 30. This is the request of Man Utd fans after witnessing Onana's disastrous performance against Galatasaray. The Cameroonian goalkeeper was at fault for two goals, causing Man Utd to be held to a draw and face the risk of being eliminated from the Champions League.

L'Equipe gave Onana a 3, the lowest of the two teams. His three teammates, Antony, Sofyan Amrabat and Victor Lindelof, were given a 4. On average, the Man Utd squad received only 4.9 points, while Erik ten Hag was given a 5.
Onana joined Man Utd from Inter this summer for $54 million. At Old Trafford, the 27-year-old goalkeeper reunited with Ten Hag, who coached him at Ajax. To make room for Onana, Man Utd did not renew David De Gea's contract, forcing the Spanish goalkeeper to leave Old Trafford after 12 years.
De Gea is considered a hero of Man Utd and the club has been criticized for the way he has been treated. The Spanish goalkeeper left shortly after receiving the Golden Glove award for the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets in the Premier League 2022-2023.

Since losing to Barca in the 2010-2011 Champions League final, Man Utd's best achievement in this tournament is reaching the quarter-finals. The "Red Devils" won the 2016-2017 Europa League with Jose Mourinho and lost to Villarreal in the final of this tournament in the 2020-2021 season. But that was not enough to meet the expectations of fans.
Ten Hag revived United after his arrival last season, helping the club return to the Champions League with a third-place finish in the Premier League. However, the Dutchman has been under pressure this season as United have struggled and are bottom of their Champions League group. In the Premier League, despite improving form and recently rising to sixth, United have lost five games this season.
Man Utd's new signings are questionable. They spent more than $217 million to recruit Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount, Onana and Amrabat, but none of them proved to be worth the transfer fee. Last season's pillars such as Casemiro and Raphael Varane have also failed to maintain their form, and are rumored to be leaving in January 2024.
