Vung Ang Port No. 3 is ready for commercial exploitation.

Immediately after the decision to announce the opening of wharf No. 3 - Vung Ang port by the Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration (Ministry of Construction) on March 25, 2025, Lao - Viet International Port Joint Stock Company coordinated with state management agencies to inspect the conditions for exploiting this port.

Lao-Viet International Port Company has completed the required procedures to receive the Thanh Thanh Dat 899 ship with a capacity of 44,000 DWT to assess the actual conditions at the port.

The wharf items of wharf No. 3 are also being urgently completed before being put into use from April 2025.

In preparation for commercial operations in April 2025, from 2024, Lao-Viet International Port Joint Stock Company will also recruit more machine operators. Mr. Pham Quoc Luong - Deputy Director of Lao-Viet International Port Joint Stock Company said: " In addition to recruiting more staff, the company's machinery system such as cranes, excavators, forklifts, etc. will also be rotated from berth 1 and berth 2 to berth 3 if there is incoming goods... ".

Wharf No. 3 is located in the seaport waters under the management of Ha Tinh Maritime Port Authority, announced by the Ministry of Transport in Circular No. 49/2013/TT-BGTVT dated December 6, 2013. The wharf has a shore-connected wharf structure, 225m long; receiving general cargo ships with a tonnage of up to 45,000 DWT, maximum displacement of 55,052 tons. It is expected that Wharf No. 3 will contribute to increasing the total capacity of the 3 wharfs of Lao - Viet International Port Joint Stock Company to over 6 - 7 million tons/year. Vung Ang Port Wharf No. 3 is invested by Lao-Viet International Port Joint Stock Company with a total investment of nearly 1,000 billion VND in 2 phases, including the following items: wharf, water area in front of the wharf, wharf embankment, cargo yard, road system in the port and other technical infrastructure and auxiliary works. After completion, wharf No. 3 will be able to receive ships with a tonnage of up to 45,000 DWT, with a design capacity of 1.7 million tons/year.

The investment in wharf No. 3 meets the increasing demand for goods, while increasing the attractiveness index in attracting investment in Vung Ang Economic Zone, creating socio-economic growth for Ha Tinh and the Central region; serving well the import and export, transit transportation and trade, cooperation with Laos and the Northeast region of Thailand.
