International experts expect that in the future, Ho Chi Minh City, with its potential advantages, will develop a transshipment port for goods from other regions with oversized and overweight goods of up to thousands of tons.
On November 11, in Ho Chi Minh City, the World Project Cargo Council (WWPC) held the 22nd Annual Global Logistics Conference. The conference attracted hundreds of experts and businesses from 60 countries in the fields of freight forwarding, maritime transport, and oversized and overweight cargo.

This conference focuses on investment opportunities and logistics development in Vietnam. At present, Vietnam has favorable political and economic conditions, competitive production costs and a young workforce, so it is receiving attention from many countries, in many fields such as renewable energy, technology and electric vehicles... This is an opportunity to develop logistics.
At the conference, Mr. Huynh Vi Phuc, General Director of Asia America Transport and Service Joint Stock Company (a member of WWPC Association) said that Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general are located in an advantageous area for transiting goods from other regions, suitable for transporting oversized and overweight goods up to thousands of tons.
However, in terms of road infrastructure, seaports have not yet developed to their full potential.
"In the coming time, Vietnamese seaports will be fully capable of competing for "oversized, overweight" cargo with other countries such as Singapore, Indonesia...", Mr. Phuc said.
Mr. Wolfgang Karau - Chairman of the World Project Cargo Association (WWPC) said that Ho Chi Minh City has many advantages in developing maritime transport, especially oversized and overweight transport.
Mr. Wolfgang Karau, President of WWPC Association said that every year, WWPC Association will organize conferences in different countries.
Held for the first time in Vietnam, project cargo transport businesses worldwide will recognize the development and have investment opportunities in the field of oversized and overweight cargo in Vietnam.
In recent years, Vietnam has been developing and planning to build many international seaports, along with investment in transport infrastructure, to meet the needs of transporting large packages for the industry.
Discussing at the conference, businesses expect that in the coming time, Ho Chi Minh City will invest in infrastructure and accelerate the construction of many super transit ports such as Can Gio (Can Gio district) to attract goods from many countries.
Ms. Tran Thi Hai Yen, Director of the Southern Investment Promotion Center, Foreign Investment Agency (Ministry of Planning and Investment) said that the Vietnamese Government continuously reforms and simplifies procedures for import and export goods to create favorable conditions to attract investment.
In addition, a series of port infrastructure projects, including large ports, are of interest to major shipping lines such as Air Canada Cargo, BBC Chartering Wallenius Wilhelmsen, etc. This is a great opportunity for the strong development of the logistics industry in our country.
Long An International Port is a key project of the seaport industry. The port gradually affirms its important role in the regional logistics chain towards the goal of contributing to Vietnam's socio-economic development.
"Vietnam has many large seaports with great potential for developing logistics networks. Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria - Vung Tau have focused on investing and developing seaport infrastructure very strongly," Ms. Hai Yen affirmed.
On that basis, our country will attract goods and investment sources from large enterprises in the world. The logistics industry has a great opportunity to develop commensurate with its potential.
The 22nd Annual Global Logistics Conference will be held for the first time in Ho Chi Minh City, scheduled to take place from November 11 to 13. The conference is a forum for experts and large logistics enterprises from all over the world.
This conference discussed solutions to improve the competitiveness of Vietnam's logistics industry, and the development trends of logistics in the world.
