Need to invest in a hard bridge in Ba Che district soon

Việt NamViệt Nam03/11/2024

Due to the impact of storm No. 3, Ba Che district suffered great damage, including the traffic infrastructure including 02 suspension bridges across Ba Che river, Lang Loc suspension bridge, Thanh Lam commune and Khe Put suspension bridge, Thanh Son commune, completely collapsed. This affected people's lives and posed a potential risk to traffic safety.

Current status of Lang Loc suspension bridge (Thanh Lam commune, Ba Che district) damaged by natural disasters.

Lang Loc suspension bridge, Thanh Lam commune, was put into use in 2011, managed and used by Thanh Lam commune People's Committee. The bridge is located on the main road connecting provincial road 342 and provincial road 330, serving the travel and direct production needs of the people of Lang Loc and Lang Da villages, Thanh Lam commune with a total of 96 households and nearly 500 people. Of which, the number of preschool and primary school students regularly commuting from Lang Loc village to Lang Da village is more than 30 children. Since the bridge was completely destroyed by the storm, to get to school, students, especially primary and preschool students, have to take a detour of dozens of kilometers to get to school.

The collapsed suspension bridge caused difficulties in daily life and travel for people in Lang Loc village.

To save time, many parents choose to take their children to school and back home by raft across the Ba Che River. This poses a high risk of insecurity and drowning. Especially when it rains, the water level rises and flows rapidly. Mr. Tran Van Trieu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Lam Commune, Ba Che District, shared: Before, when there was a bridge, students in Lang Loc village only had to walk about 900m to get to school. When the bridge collapsed, parents had to take their children around Provincial Road 330, dozens of kilometers away, to get to school. Many families who do not have the means still have to take their children across the river by raft to get there faster. The People's Committee of the commune also sent forces to support and supervise to ensure safety. However, this is still a constant concern because there are unpredictable dangers on the river.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Head of Lang Loc Village (Thanh Lam Commune, Ba Che District) said: The cultivated fields of more than 10 hectares of Lang Loc Village are mainly on the other side of Ba Che River. Therefore, going to work every day requires a long journey, which is very time-consuming and costly in terms of fuel, while the income of the people from agriculture is still low. We hope that the State will soon invest in a bridge to create convenience for the people and ensure social security.

Khe Put suspension bridge (Thanh Son commune, Ba Che district) collapsed due to storm and flood.

Similar to Lang Loc suspension bridge, Khe Put suspension bridge in Thanh Son commune also completely collapsed after storm No. 3. The bridge was completed and handed over to Thanh Son commune People's Committee for management and use since 2004. Although it is a suspension bridge, it plays an important role in socio-economic development, afforestation, and trade of local people. The bridge is located on the inter-commune road, connecting Thanh Son commune with Don Dac, Dap Thanh and Thanh Lam communes, serving the direct travel needs of people in Khe Put, Khe Lo, Khe Na villages of Thanh Son commune; Dong Tien village of Thanh Lam commune with 336 households and nearly 1,500 people. Mr. Trinh Van Tu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Thanh Son commune, Ba Che district, said: After storm No. 3, many households in the commune who planted forests suffered heavy damage due to fallen trees. Therefore, investing in building bridges for people to conveniently trade, travel and revive forests is an extremely urgent issue.

According to the People's Committee of Ba Che district, the construction of suspension bridges is no longer suitable for the transport development planning of Quang Ninh province, and it is easy to repeat damage and failure when there are storms and floods. In particular, local people grow forests, and the demand for transporting forest products by car is quite high, so suspension bridges with small tonnage can only meet a very small part of the people's demand for transporting and circulating goods.

To urgently restore traffic connections on the cut-off routes and ensure traffic safety, voters, residents and local authorities hope that the province will soon invest in building a reinforced concrete bridge to replace the two collapsed suspension bridges in Khe Put village, Thanh Son commune and Lang Loc village, Thanh Lam commune, in an emergency form due to storms and floods as prescribed.
