According to the plan, in about a month, the first metro line of Ho Chi Minh City (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) will officially be put into commercial operation. This is an important milestone marking the city's transformation in developing a modern public transport system.

Metro Line 1 is 19.7km long with 3 underground stations and 11 elevated stations, connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City with the eastern areas such as Thu Duc and Di An (Binh Duong). Most of the metro stations are located in strategic locations, creating favorable conditions for traffic connection and urban development. In the photo is Ben Thanh underground station, located right next to Ben Thanh market - the busiest area in Ho Chi Minh City.

Ben Thanh Station is located in the 23/9 Park, the starting point of metro line 1. With its central location, the station is designed to meet the convenient travel needs of residents, including a system of motorbike and car parking areas located around it. In particular, there are expected to be 27 bus routes connecting to this station, creating a seamless public transport network.

Located right next to Ben Thanh station, the Opera House underground station is also one of the important works of metro line 1. Located underground, right in front of the Opera House - a long-standing cultural symbol of Ho Chi Minh City, this station is also located next to the City People's Committee headquarters, an architectural work with historical significance.

Stopping at this station, passengers can easily access areas such as Nguyen Hue walking street, Vincom shopping center, Bach Dang wharf, Ben Thanh market... This will certainly be an important transit point, attracting domestic and foreign tourists.

Ba Son Station, the last underground station on Metro Line 1, is located at the foot of Thu Thiem Bridge, next to the poetic Saigon River. On the other side of the river is Thu Thiem Peninsula, a bustling new urban area, expected to become the modern financial and commercial center of Ho Chi Minh City in the future.

The roofing system, lighting and guardrails at the pedestrian bridges along Metro Line 1 have been completed, creating a safe and convenient space for people to move. In recent days, quality inspection and assessment work has been carried out to ensure that everything meets standards before being put into use.

The construction of motorbike and car parking lots at the stations of Metro Line 1 is also being accelerated to meet the needs of the people when it officially operates. These parking lots are built in convenient locations, near the stations, making it easy for passengers to move around and park their vehicles before boarding the train.

The urban railway is built next to the overpass and road system, creating a synchronous and modern traffic network for Ho Chi Minh City.

The new Eastern Bus Station is the last station of the urban railway line before the trains head to Long Binh deport (Thu Duc City). At this station, people can travel to the National Cultural and Historical Park, Hung King Temple, Ho Chi Minh City National University Village or the Oncology Hospital... This is also the bus station that will take passengers to many provinces and cities.

The final stop of metro line 1 is Long Binh depot. This is considered the "brain" or "heart" of the entire railway line. Long Binh depot is the maintenance control center, operating 17 trains with advanced technology.

Long Binh Depot is about 20 hectares wide, including a control center, train maintenance, operating buildings, train maintenance workshop, rail equipment maintenance infrastructure, electrical system, signal, communication, train parking lot, train cleaning station, internal road network and office area... The 4,000m2 workshop area, built of steel, is the place to maintain and repair trains of metro line 1.

To operate effectively, the Urban Railway Company No. 1 (HURC, the operator of metro No. 1) has established an Operation Enterprise and a Maintenance Enterprise. The Operation Enterprise is responsible for daily operations, focusing on train drivers, station staff, and support departments. Meanwhile, the Maintenance Enterprise will manage and maintain the entire technical system, from locomotives to infrastructure.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board, the metro line is now almost complete, and the construction site of metro line 1 has basically finished.

Metro Line 1 has just completed its trial run as planned at 100% of its design capacity. Accordingly, trains will operate from 5:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. every day, with train intervals ranging from 5 minutes 30 seconds to 10 minutes. This is a particularly important trial run before official operation.

After completing the 100% capacity operation, the independent consultant will re-evaluate the overall and complete the acceptance, moving towards commercial exploitation in December 2024.
