Southeastern localities speed up key projects

Attending the conference were Mr. Phan Van Mai - Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Tho - Chairman of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial People's Committee and leaders of the People's Committees of Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Binh Phuoc provinces; and representatives of departments and branches of the provinces in the Southeast region.

Event - Localities in the Southeast region speed up key projects — Scene of the conference on exchange and cooperation between localities in the Southeast region in the third quarter of 2023, on the afternoon of October 20 in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.

At the beginning of the conference, Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong - Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee reported a summary of the implementation results of the coordination contents and agreements on socio-economic development cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City, the provinces of the Southeast region and Long An in the third quarter of 2023.

According to Mr. Cuong, plan No. 4218/KH-UBND on coordinating the implementation of the Southeast cooperation agreement has a total of 12 regional coordination contents. By the end of the third quarter of 2023, 7/10 contents have been implemented, the remaining 5/10 contents will continue to be implemented in the fourth quarter of 2023 and next year.

Regarding bilateral coordination, there are a total of 39 contents between Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of the Southeast region in 2023. By the end of the third quarter of 2023, the above contents have been and are being implemented.

Mr. Cuong added that the priority contents to be implemented in the coming time are to continue implementing cooperation contents according to plan No. 4218/KH-UBND on coordinating the implementation of the cooperation agreement in the Southeast region; coordinating the implementation of Ring Road 4 projects; coordinating to speed up the implementation of Ring Road 3 component projects; submitting to the Prime Minister for decision on the investment policy for the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway construction project.

Strengthening waterway traffic connections; Continuing coordination in the fields of health; planning; trade - tourism; agriculture; environment; education and training...

At the conference, representatives of departments and branches of localities in the region focused on exchanging and presenting specific and common difficulties in the region in all areas of cooperation such as: transportation, tourism, health. Thereby, proposing solutions to overcome common difficulties.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Phan Van Mai - Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee clearly stated the issues that localities in the Southeast region need to agree on for future implementation.

Specifically, localities will jointly speed up site clearance for key projects; jointly speed up the implementation of the Ring Road 3 project, as well as ensure the progress of the implementation of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4 project; organize and coordinate construction material sources, ensuring supply for belt and expressway projects.

In particular, localities will propose the Central Government to support budget capital to participate in the project for the construction of Ring Road 4 (supporting localities in the Southeast region with 50% of capital; Long An from 80-90% of capital) in the context of shortage due to focusing capital on Ring Road 3 project and key projects, not yet balancing the expected capital source of about 106.89 trillion VND for 5 component projects.
