The whole Huong Hoa district has a total area of jackfruit coffee of about 700 hectares, mainly concentrated in the villages such as Huc, Huong Phung, Huong Loc... In recent years, coffee prices have tended to increase, farmers have boldly invested and applied scientific and technical advances in production, so the area of jackfruit coffee has developed favorably, productivity has increased gradually with each crop season.
Currently, the price of fresh jackfruit coffee fluctuates from 18,000 - 20,000 VND/kg. This is the highest price in many years. In addition, thanks to good investment and care, the yield of jackfruit coffee is also much higher than previous years. On average, each tree produces 60-70 kg of fresh fruit, with some trees producing 100 kg of fresh fruit.
To improve coffee quality and ensure effective coffee harvesting, processing and consumption, Huong Hoa district has directed localities to strengthen propaganda and mobilize people not to harvest green coffee, ensuring that the rate of ripe coffee when picked is over 90%.
Jackfruit coffee is a drought-resistant crop, highly resistant to pests and diseases, requires low fertilizer investment and requires little care, suitable for mountainous land, so Huong Hoa district has focused on encouraging people to grow it, taking advantage of high hills, hillsides, and fields, intercropping with other crops... Although the area is not large and the distribution is not concentrated, this crop has brought a stable source of income to people, especially ethnic minorities.
