Group 275 (Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Protection Command) is a special political unit tasked with protecting ceremonial security. The honor guards selected for the group are all people with good moral character, good health, good appearance, balanced physique, and the required height.
In order to be able to stand at attention and not move while on duty, these soldiers have to undergo physical training for many hours every day.
Since May 19, 2001, the flag raising and lowering ceremony at Ba Dinh Square (in front of President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum) has become a national ritual performed daily. To perform this task well, the honor guards must regularly practice hard.
Previously, the idea of the national flag lighting ceremony at the historic Ba Dinh Square was proposed by the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Protection Command and approved by the Government. Group 275 of the Mausoleum Protection Command was assigned to carry out this important task.
The first days of training were quite a challenge for the soldiers because they had to stand at attention for 30 minutes, then increased to 1 hour, 2 hours, and finally 3 hours.
For the honor guards, people with similar height, body shape, and face are chosen. They must stand at attention, not smiling, but also not too tense.
To carry the wreath to pay respect to Uncle Ho, the soldiers also had to practice. Accordingly, a concrete slab of about 25kg was brought out for practice.
After 3 months of training for new soldiers, less than 20% of them can stand in the actual honor guard. The best ones continue to receive advanced training for the same period of time.
In addition to those responsibilities, Group 275 also coordinates with Regiment 375, Guard Command (Ministry of Public Security) to protect, guide, and welcome domestic compatriots, international guests, and delegations of heads of state to visit President Ho Chi Minh's mausoleum.
Standing in the formation of 34 soldiers performing the flag salute ceremony every day is the honor and responsibility of every soldier.
For each soldier in the Honor Guard of Regiment 275, even though they stand for hours in the rain or sun, training day and night, sweat drops fall continuously, on their faces they all show confidence and pride when performing the sacred duty next to President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum.
