OCOP product owners in Phu Yen province are boosting production, focusing on quality and design to serve the Tet market.

Increase production capacity of OCOP products

For more than a month now, Dong Hoa Lotus Agricultural Service Cooperative (Dong Hoa Town) has focused on human resources, urgently producing OCOP products to ensure quality, packaging products, and eye-catching designs to supply the market on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025.

Ms. Pham Thi Bich Thuy, Director of Dong Hoa Lotus Agricultural Service Cooperative, said that the cooperative currently has 6 products processed from lotus including: ice lotus tea, lotus heart tea, fresh lotus seeds, dried lotus seeds, crispy lotus seeds and lotus seed powder that meet OCOP 3 stars.

To serve the Tet market, the unit has increased production by 40%, as well as researched new products to suit consumer tastes.

“Every day, we make 200 gifts, priced from 300,000 to 500,000 VND/gift to meet orders from units, businesses and customers as gifts. In addition, we also supply many products to supermarkets and businesses in Ho Chi Minh City,” Ms. Thuy shared, adding that the cooperative's OCOP products are present in 63 provinces and cities across the country. The above results were achieved thanks to our recent focus on trade promotion and market expansion. What is even more exciting is that in 2024, the cooperative's dried lotus seed products were exported to the Malaysian and Indian markets to be used as ingredients to make moon cakes for customers.

Similarly, Phu Gia production facility (Tuy Hoa city) with 8 products achieving 3-star OCOP such as head sausage, pork sausage, beef sausage, chili sausage, chili pork sausage, cinnamon sausage, 1-sun-dried beef and 1-sun-dried pork belly is also in peak production season, operating at full capacity to meet the Tet market.

Mr. Do Phuc Nghia, owner of Phu Gia business, said that during Tet, dried beef and dried pork belly are very popular in the market, so the facility produces more than usual. For ham products, on normal days, each type is made from 50kg, but near Tet, the quantity increases 3-4 times.

According to Mr. Nghia, previously the facility's products were mainly supplied in the city. But later, when it achieved OCOP products, consumers in many provinces and cities knew about it, and production output also increased by 20-30%.

Diversified OCOP products

At the Em Vinh herbal salted chicken production facility (Song Hinh district), which achieved 3-star OCOP, it is an instant food that does not require processing, so it is very convenient to use during Tet.

According to Ms. Ngo Thi Xuan Thuy, owner of the production facility, to proactively supply products, the facility has cooperated with farmers to increase the number of free-range chickens, ensuring that agents can consume during Tet.

“At this time, the facility makes 40-50 chickens per day and plans to supply about 2,000 salt-cured chickens to ensure food safety and quality,” Ms. Thuy shared.

Currently, Phu Yen province has more than 350 OCOP products with 3-4 stars. Many OCOP entities have invested and come up with ideas for gift baskets made from bamboo, paper boxes and other luxurious accessories to meet the diverse needs of consumers.

According to our observations at supermarkets and stores selling OCOP products, many products have a strong Tet flavor such as: traditional fish sauce, sticky rice wine, silkworm wine, macadamia nuts, rice paper, shredded beef jerky, pork roll, candies of all kinds...

Mr. Tran Minh Khanh Duong, manager of the OCOP product introduction and sales point at Ward 7 market (Tuy Hoa city) said that currently, customers really need clean products with clear quality and origin, so they tend to use OCOP products more than every year.
