On Tuesday, the South American country filed a motion to intervene in the case, accusing Israel of committing "genocide" in violation of the Genocide Convention during the Gaza war.

Bolivia's joining adds it to a growing list of countries joining the case, including Colombia, Libya, Spain, Mexico, Palestine, Nicaragua and Türkiye.
In January, the ICJ ruled that Israel must do everything possible to prevent acts of genocide in Gaza and ensure that UN-mandated investigators have "unimpeded access" to the area.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected the court's interim ruling as "absurd" and vowed Israel would continue its "just war".
Amnesty International later criticized Israel for "not taking the minimum steps" to comply with the ICJ's order.
Bolivia, in its submission to the ICJ, argued that: “Israel’s war of genocide continues and the court’s orders are still being ignored by Israel.”
The year-long war in Gaza waged by Israel has left more than 42,000 people dead, mostly civilians, according to Gaza's health authority.
Although ICJ rulings are legally binding, the court has no means to enforce them, creating a challenge in compliance.
