The Ministry of Health has issued Directive No. 01 on strengthening medical work to ensure the celebration of the Lunar New Year 2024, in which it directs agencies and units to develop and implement a plan to strengthen medical work to ensure the celebration of the Lunar New Year 2024;

Assign 24/7 duty to unit leaders, officers and employees to ensure scientific and effective work; publicly post the daily duty list according to regulations.

Absolutely do not be subjective, negligent, or lose vigilance against the epidemic; organize forces and means to be on duty, monitor and supervise the epidemic's developments and ensure security, order, safety, fire prevention and fighting; promptly and effectively handle and resolve arising tasks and situations.

Require units to ensure work is carried out on schedule, promptly return to work as usual after the holidays, and strive to complete tasks right from the first months of the year.

Regarding disease surveillance and response, the Ministry of Health (Department of Preventive Medicine) issued an official dispatch to the Department of Health of provinces and centrally run cities on strengthening disease prevention and control during the Lunar New Year and the 2024 festival season; in which, it requested the Department of Health of provinces and centrally run cities to:

Continue to monitor, supervise, detect early, and promptly and thoroughly handle outbreaks of infectious diseases, preventing them from spreading and breaking out in the community. Strengthen disease inspection and surveillance at border gates to promptly detect, isolate, and promptly handle suspected cases and cases of infectious diseases, preventing the disease from entering and spreading into Vietnam.

Assign staff to be on duty 24/7 during Tet holiday; direct units to develop plans to assign tasks and strictly implement disease reporting according to regulations.

Develop a plan to be ready to respond to epidemic situations according to the 4-on-the-spot motto; fully prepare chemicals, equipment, means and human resources to ensure meeting the requirements for disease prevention and control in the area.

Strengthen inspection, supervision and monitoring of disease prevention and control work during Tet.

Continue to closely monitor the epidemic situation nationwide to promptly direct the work of preventing and fighting epidemics, dangerous and emerging diseases, and prevent them from entering Vietnam, including Covid-19 and monkeypox.

Closely monitor domestic diseases such as: Hand, foot and mouth disease, dengue fever, measles, other respiratory and digestive diseases that are at risk of outbreak during the winter - spring season, Lunar New Year and the early year festival season in localities.

Organize 24/7 epidemic prevention and control and prepare medicines, supplies, chemicals, and be ready to provide timely support and thoroughly handle outbreaks when they occur. Direct and coordinate with the Institutes of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Pasteur Institute to collect information, analyze, assess disease risks, and support the implementation of response measures in epidemic situations or public health events...

Regarding the inspection, supervision and reporting work on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2024, the Ministry of Health has established working groups led by the Ministry's leaders to inspect medical examination and treatment, disease prevention and control and ensure medical work at a number of central hospitals and medical facilities in a number of provinces and cities.

The Ministry of Health established 5 interdisciplinary inspection teams of the Central Interdisciplinary Steering Committee on Food Safety to conduct inspections in 10 provinces and cities to ensure food safety in the production, processing, trading, import and use of food; strengthen control and handling of the production and trading of fake and poor quality food, and prevent food poisoning during Tet and the 2024 Spring Festival.

6 key tasks

Thoroughly grasping the Government's 2024 management theme "Discipline, responsibility, proactiveness, accelerated innovation, sustainable efficiency"; ensuring timely implementation of the Prime Minister's direction on urging the implementation of tasks after the Lunar New Year 2024, the Ministry of Health informs and focuses on implementing key tasks:

Focus on developing, perfecting, and guiding the implementation of key legal documents of the Industry such as: Law on Medical Examination and Treatment No. 15/2023/QH15; Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Pharmacy; Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Health Insurance; At the same time, continue to develop, amend, and supplement legal documents in the health sector.

Implement measures to prevent and control epidemics, especially respiratory diseases and dangerous and emerging infectious diseases. Strengthen monitoring, surveillance, and early detection of disease cases at border gates, in the community, and at medical facilities to promptly and thoroughly handle outbreaks of infectious diseases, preventing them from spreading widely.

In addition, direct medical facilities to proactively develop and implement plans to ensure adequate medicine and medical equipment for medical examination, treatment and disease prevention and control; have a permanent plan, ready to respond, ensure good admission, treatment, routine medical examination and treatment and disease prevention and control.

Along with that, strengthen the work of ensuring food safety, preventing food poisoning and food-borne diseases during the Spring Festival in 2024.

At the same time, promote information, propaganda, raise people's awareness in disease prevention and control and improve health. Strengthen communication of policies on protection, care and improvement of people's health, newly issued policies.

Effectively organize activities to celebrate Vietnamese Doctors' Day on February 27, 2024; honor and commend collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in medical work .
