In 2024, the Naval Region 5 Command and the Propaganda Department of the Provincial Party Committees of Ca Mau, Kien Giang, and An Giang have been proactive and active in coordinating propaganda work on seas and islands. Thereby contributing to raising awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors, and people of all walks of life; promoting the combined strength, maintaining political security, social order and safety, building an increasingly solid national defense and people's security posture at sea.
On the afternoon of December 24, in Ca Mau province, the Naval Region 5 Command coordinated with the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department and the Women's Union of Ca Mau, An Giang, and Kien Giang provinces to organize a conference to review the coordination of propaganda work on seas and islands; propaganda and mobilization of women to participate in building and protecting sovereignty over seas and islands in 2024.

The report presented at the Conference stated: In 2024, the Naval Region 5 Command and the Propaganda Department of the Provincial Party Committees of Ca Mau, Kien Giang, and An Giang proactively coordinated, developed plans, and organized a team of reporters to go to localities to propagate the sea and islands, combining propaganda to attract human resources to build a modern Navy for cadres, party members, women's union members, and people of all walks of life.

The target audience for propaganda continues to be expanded, not only to cadres, party members, reporters, students, union members, and women in the area, but also to veterans, religious dignitaries, prestigious people among ethnic minorities, Khmer students, owners of marine fishing vessels, and fishermen.

The propaganda content focuses on: Vietnamese laws, international treaties related to seas and islands to which Vietnam is a member; the position, role and importance of seas and islands in the cause of national construction and protection; the situation in our country's seas and islands; the legal basis and historical evidence affirming Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos; the results of the struggle to protect the sovereignty of seas and islands by various forces; the viewpoints of our Party and State in resolving the above disputes and disagreements; Directive 45/CT-TTg dated December 13, 2017 of the Prime Minister on urgent tasks and solutions to overcome the warning of the European Commission on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

During the year, the Naval Region 5 Command coordinated with localities to organize 48 sea and island propaganda sessions for more than 20,000 cadres, party members, women's union members, religious dignitaries, students, people from all walks of life and reporters at all levels; organized propaganda to attract human resources for more than 13,500 students at primary, secondary, high schools, colleges and universities in the area; disseminated and popularized the law in 27 sessions for 1,600 fishermen; presented 1,500 national flags; distributed 1,500 sets of documents "Things to know when going to sea"; supported the construction and handover of 4 "Comrades' Houses", 2 "Great Unity Houses", 2 "Gratitude Houses"; provided nearly 1,000m3 of water for free to people in drought-stricken areas and fishermen in the Southwest sea....

In the coming time, the Naval Region 5 Command and localities will focus on innovating the content, form and methods of propaganda about the sea and islands; closely combining oral propaganda with visual propaganda; promoting propaganda in newspapers, the internet and social networks; coordinating the organization of competitions to learn about and exhibition activities about the sea and islands; at the same time promoting the program "Vietnam Navy as a fulcrum for fishermen to go offshore and stick to the sea"; the activity "Navy sponsors fishermen's children".

On this occasion, the Navy Command awarded Certificates of Merit to 6 groups; the Navy Region 5 Command, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, and the Women's Union of Ca Mau, An Giang, and Kien Giang provinces awarded Certificates of Merit to 11 groups and 29 individuals with good achievements in coordinating propaganda work on seas and islands in 2024.
At the conference, the Naval Region 5 Command, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department and the Women's Union of Ca Mau, An Giang and Kien Giang provinces signed a program of joint activities in 2025.
