Accordingly, on the morning of January 9, 2024, Regiment 929, Division 372, Air Defense - Air Force organized a training flight right at Da Nang airport as planned.
Su 22 aircraft, serial number 5880, piloted by Captain Do Tien Duc, Squadron Leader of Squadron 1; took off at 11:04 and at 11:14 the pilot reported that the aircraft had problems and could not land. The flight commander ordered the pilot to try to get the aircraft out of the populated area and parachute.
The pilot managed to get the plane away from the residential area and parachuted 19 km south of the runway in Dien Nam Trung Commune, Dien Ban Town, Quang Nam Province. The plane was damaged, but there were no casualties at the crash site. The pilot parachuted safely and is in stable health.
Currently, the Air Defense - Air Force has directed relevant agencies to coordinate with local authorities to block off the scene and investigate the incident.
