The Ministry of Transport has just sent a document to the National Assembly Delegation of Binh Dinh province in response to the petition of voters of this province regarding the expansion of National Highway 1A through Quy Nhon City.

According to voters in Binh Dinh province, National Highway 1A section through Bui Thi Xuan ward, Quy Nhon city, due to the narrow road surface, the number of vehicles participating in traffic is increasing, causing accidents to occur continuously.

From there, voters recommended that the Ministry of Transport direct the route management unit to inspect, survey and have a plan to expand this route into a dual carriageway with a median strip to ensure traffic safety for people participating in traffic.

Regarding this issue, the Ministry of Transport said that, implementing the Prime Minister's direction and approved planning, in the period from 2013 to 2015, the Ministry of Transport has invested and completed the expansion of National Highway 1 from Thanh Hoa to Can Tho with a scale of 4 lanes with a median strip. For sections that already have a scale of 4 lanes for vehicles or have bypasses, investment will be considered in the next phase.

Therefore, National Highway 1 through Bui Thi Xuan Ward, Quy Nhon City, from Phu Tai Intersection to Binh Phu Bridge, is kept intact, only the road surface is reinforced because it runs parallel to National Highway 1D, which has been invested in with a scale of 2-4 lanes.

"According to the road network planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, National Highway 1 has a level III scale, 4 lanes. Currently, the Ministry of Transport is focusing resources to invest in completing and putting into operation the North - South expressway in the East section through Binh Dinh province with a scale of 4 lanes by the end of 2025. When the project is completed and put into operation, it will reduce the load for vehicles traveling on National Highway 1.

The Ministry of Transport has noted the voters' recommendations; after putting the Eastern North-South Expressway into operation, the Ministry of Transport will coordinate with the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province to re-evaluate the demand and consider expanding this section if necessary," the Ministry of Transport added.
