This afternoon, confirming with VietNamNet reporter, a private source said: Chairman of Tien Lang District People's Committee, Hai Phong City Bui Thanh Cuong is completing procedures to resign.

Mr. Cuong is the person with many low confidence votes (more than 50%) in the recent mid-term confidence vote.

Meanwhile, speaking to the press, Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Phuong, Secretary of the District Party Committee and Chairwoman of the People's Council of Tien Lang District, said that she had not yet received Mr. Cuong's resignation letter and that this afternoon Mr. Cuong was still working normally in his position as Chairman of the District. However, Ms. Phuong said that "if Mr. Cuong sent a letter, it would be normal."

Speaking further with VietNamNet reporters this afternoon, Chief of Office of Tien Lang District People's Committee Pham Van Hoa said that the information about Mr. Cuong's resignation is unclear. Mr. Cuong is currently holding the position of District Chairman and running the work normally.

Previously, on December 25, 2023, the Tien Lang District People's Council held its 19th session, 19th term, 2021 - 2026 term. At this meeting, a vote of confidence was taken for the positions elected by the District People's Council for 19 positions, including the position of Chairman of the District People's Committee.

As a result, Mr. Bui Thanh Cuong had 8/33 high confidence votes (accounting for 24.2%), 4/33 confidence votes (accounting for 12.1%) and 21/33 low confidence votes (accounting for 63.7%).
