According to information from the Yen Thanh District Agricultural Service Center, as of October 13, there were 6 communes in the district where African swine fever was occurring, including: Van Thanh, Hau Thanh, Phu Thanh, Phuc Thanh, Tang Thanh, Hoa Thanh and Hung Thanh. The total number of pigs that had to be destroyed was 496, with a total weight of over 18 tons.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Huong - Director of Yen Thanh District Agricultural Service Center said: "Currently, there are 4 communes: Lang Thanh, Tien Thanh, Hop Thanh and Bac Thanh that have samples of sick pigs sent to the Regional Veterinary Agency III for testing for African swine fever but there are no results yet. Thus, in the past 8 days, this dangerous disease for pigs has continued to spread to several more communes."

In Dien Chau district, African swine fever is also spreading to many communes. According to information from the district's Agricultural Service Center, as of October 13, the district has 78 pig farming households in 8 communes infected with the disease, including: Dien Ky, Dien Thai, Minh Chau, Dien Lien, Dien Loi, Dien Dong, Dien Hoa and Dien Phuc. The total number of pigs that had to be destroyed was 116, with a total weight of more than 8.6 tons. Since October 6, Dien Chau district has had 4 more communes with African swine fever.
In the mountainous district of Quy Hop, African swine fever has also recurred since the end of September in Dong Hop commune. Mr. Quan Vi Giang - Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee said that as of October 13, Dong Hop commune had destroyed 80 pigs, with a total weight of nearly 7 tons, all of which were infected in Dong Xuong and Dong Hung hamlets.
"Currently, African swine fever is spreading widely. The district has directed localities to step up propaganda work to the people, and at the same time, implement disease prevention and control solutions according to regulations of veterinary agencies. For communes in the area where the epidemic has not yet occurred, it is necessary to focus resources, material resources, and funding to implement urgent measures to prevent and control the disease," said Mr. Quan Vi Giang.

According to the provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, from the beginning of 2023 until now, a number of African swine fever outbreaks have occurred in the province in Yen Thanh, Dien Chau, Quy Hop districts... However, the outbreaks mainly occurred in small-scale farms, and local authorities and veterinary agencies have focused on directing solutions to prevent and promptly handle the epidemic.
The provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine recommends that currently, the weather is entering the rainy and stormy season, and there may be unusual cold spells in the near future that will reduce the resistance and health of livestock, creating conditions for pathogens to develop and cause disease. Therefore, the risk of disease outbreaks and spread in the coming time is very high./.
