The National Tourism Year - Dien Bien 2024 will officially open on March 16. The opening art program is one of the impressive highlights of the National Tourism Year 2024. The program includes 3 chapters: Dien Bien - the legendary land, traveling along the wings, Dien Bien connecting the flower seasons with a duration of 80 minutes, broadcast live on VTV1, VOV1, Dien Bien Provincial Radio and Television Station.

In particular, for the first time in the Northwest region in general and Dien Bien in particular, the audience will enjoy the drone light art performance - a flycam performance combining the light of 200 unmanned aircraft. The performance with symbols of the Fatherland map, flying dragon, Dien Bien tourism logo, airplanes, ban flowers, Muong Thanh fields, the Fatherland flag and symbols of tourist cities... will be brightly lit at the opening night.

The National Tourism Year - Dien Bien 2024 is organized with 169 activities and events. Of which, Dien Bien province will host 28 activities and events. In addition to the opening ceremony, Dien Bien province has identified the Swallow-tailed Boat Racing Festival in Muong Lay town; the Dien Bien Cherry Blossom Festival 2024 and the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory held on the morning of May 7 as typical and characteristic activities that Dien Bien province will host.

Dien Bien is the only province in the Northwest that has an airport connecting to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City; it has just been upgraded and expanded to accommodate A321 aircraft. Mr. Nguyen Minh Phu, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VH-TT-DL) of Dien Bien, said that in recent times, Dien Bien has focused on improving transport infrastructure to facilitate tourists from other provinces and cities to come to this province. Accommodation infrastructure, food services, experience services, entertainment, sightseeing, viewing historical sites... although there are many difficulties, Dien Bien is making efforts to meet the needs of tourists.

Increasingly attractive destinations

Since the beginning of March, the number of tourists flocking to Dien Bien has increased dramatically, with thousands of visitors coming every day. It is expected that the number of visitors will continue to increase during the opening ceremony of Dien Bien National Tourism Year and the Ban Flower Festival in 2024. Some of the tourist attractions include A1 Hill, De Castries Bunker, Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum, Dien Bien Phu Campaign Command Headquarters, etc.

Mr. Le Thanh Do, Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee, expects that Dien Bien National Tourism Year 2024 will have a profound impact not only on tourism but also contribute to the growth of other economic sectors. The effect of the media will contribute to continuing to promote and attract investment capital and domestic and international tourists to the province after the program. Dien Bien's goal is that by 2025, the number of tourists will reach over 1.45 million, including 300,000 international visitors. Total revenue from tourism activities in 2025 will reach over VND 2,380 billion, an average increase of 15%/year, contributing about 10% of the province's average GRDP. Dien Bien also expects to attract many large investors to have more high-class hotels, bringing the total number of rooms to 4,000.

According to Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy, Dien Bien is known as a historical land associated with the Dien Bien Phu victory. Historical relics have been invested in construction and restoration to meet the needs of many tourists for sightseeing and learning about history. In addition to this strength, Dien Bien is also a land rich in potential for resort tourism, health care with a system of hot mineral springs, invested homestays or eco-tourism, exploring natural landscapes and experiencing the cultural identity of 19 ethnic groups. Deputy Minister Trinh Thi Thuy hopes that through the event of National Tourism Year - Dien Bien 2024 "Glory of Dien Bien Phu - Endless Experience", the values ​​and potentials of Dien Bien tourism in particular, the Northwest region and Vietnam tourism in general will be converged, promoted and promoted effectively, contributing to realizing the goal of making tourism a spearhead economic sector.

Calling on residents with conditions to open their doors to welcome tourists

According to statistics, Dien Bien province currently has 205 tourist accommodation establishments, of which 121 are in the city and surrounding areas with 1,839 rooms and 3,430 beds. Up to this point, hotels and motels in Dien Bien Phu City and Dien Bien District are basically full for the opening ceremony. Mr. Doan Van Chi, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien, said that to ensure tourists coming to Dien Bien have safe places to stay, the province has called on qualified residents to open their doors to welcome guests.
