Storm Doksuri approaches the East Sea, wind gusts above level 17

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 7:00 a.m. this morning (July 25), the center of storm Doksuri was located at about 17.6 degrees North latitude; 124.6 degrees East longitude, about 230km east of Luzon Island (Philippines). The strongest wind near the center of the storm was level 15 (167-183km/h), gusting to level 17.

Today, the storm continues to move northwest at 15km/h and is likely to strengthen.

As of 7:00 a.m. on July 26, the storm maintained its speed and direction of movement with the strongest wind near the storm center at level 15-16, gusting above level 17 (equivalent to super typhoon level). The dangerous area is north of latitude 17.0N, east of longitude 118.0E. The affected area is east of the North East Sea.

After 24 hours, storm Doksuri maintained its direction of travel and reduced its speed to 10km/h. The strongest wind near the storm center is level 15, gusting to level 17. Dangerous area is north of latitude 17.0N, east of longitude 116.5E. Affected area: Northeast of the North East Sea.

From the next 48 to 72 hours, the storm will keep moving at about 15km per hour, with intensity decreasing to level 13-15, gusting to level 17.

The forecast map shows that after entering the East Sea, the super typhoon will move mainly northwest, with its intensity decreasing to level 14. On July 28, the typhoon is likely to make landfall in Fujian province or Taiwan island (China).

The meteorological agency said that storm Doksuri has little risk of affecting the weather on the mainland of our country, but will cause heavy rain, strong winds and rough seas in the northeastern area of ​​the North East Sea, which is very dangerous for ships.

From the afternoon of July 25, the wind in the eastern sea of ​​the North East Sea gradually increased to level 6-7, from the afternoon and night of July 26 it increased to level 7-8, then increased to level 9-10, near the storm center it increased to level 11-13, gusting to level 16; waves 5-7m high, rough seas.

On land, thunderstorms will continue in the Central Highlands and the South today with widespread rainfall of 20-50mm, in some places over 90mm, concentrated in the afternoon and evening.

In addition, this afternoon and evening, the area from Thua Thien Hue to Binh Thuan will have showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain with rainfall of 20-40mm, some places over 70mm. Heavy rain in the above areas is likely to last for the next 2-3 days.

Meanwhile, the North and Thanh Hoa continue to experience hot weather with the highest temperature of 35-37 degrees, some places above 37 degrees.

On July 26, the heat wave spread to the North Central region, then to the Central Central region. Temperatures in some places quickly increased to over 37 degrees, the lowest humidity was 50-60%, causing a dry, hot, and stuffy feeling.
