According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy - Director of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training, the regulation of unifying the threshold to ensure input quality for health and pedagogy majors in the draft admission regulations aims to ensure fairness for candidates, regardless of the admission method.
The Ministry of Education and Training plans to apply a floor score for the Medicine, Pharmacy and Pedagogy groups.
According to the draft university admission regulations for 2025 of the Ministry of Education and Training, the entrance threshold for teacher training majors and majors in the health sector with a practice certificate must have academic results (in all 3 high school levels) ranked Good or higher or a high school graduation score of 8.0 or higher.
For the following majors: Physical Education; Music Pedagogy; Fine Arts Pedagogy; Preschool Education at college level; Nursing; Preventive Medicine; Midwifery; Dental Prosthetics; Medical Testing Technology, Medical Imaging Technology; Rehabilitation Technology, the learning results in all 3 years of high school must be ranked Good or higher or the high school graduation score must be 6.5 or higher.
In addition, the Ministry divided candidates for teacher training and health care into two groups. The academic record requirement only applies to the group that does not consider high school graduation exam scores.
For the group of admissions based on graduation exam scores, the Ministry will announce the floor score annually. The draft no longer divides the floor score according to the admission method.
Regarding these changes, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy - Director of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training said that the regulation of unifying the threshold to ensure input quality for health and pedagogy majors in the admission regulations is intended to ensure fairness for candidates, regardless of the admission method.
"In addition, the regulation based on the results of all 3 years is to create a positive impact on the teaching and learning process at high school level," said Ms. Thuy.
For many years, the Ministry of Education and Training has set the minimum scores for two groups of majors: health and education. The minimum scores are announced around July every year.
In the past 2 years, the minimum admission score for teacher training and health care has remained stable. The entrance threshold for teacher training based on high school graduation exam results is 18 - 19 points for a combination of 3 subjects. For preschool education at college level, it is 17 points. The entrance threshold for the health care group is from 19 - 22.5.
In fact, from previous admission seasons, the standard scores of schools are often much higher than the floor scores. For the education sector, the highest standard score is up to 29.3 points.
