This is a project funded by the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam with an amount of 65,573 USD, signed and implemented from March 2024.
Ambassador Ito Naoki said that aquaculture contributes to the development of agriculture in Vietnam. However, in recent years, the impact of climate change has affected aquatic production, making the lives of fishermen unstable.
Therefore, the project will contribute to improving the quality of training, equipping students with modern knowledge and skills, and contributing to the development of the aquaculture industry. On the other hand, the project will strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between Japan and Vietnam, and at the same time, be a new step forward for cooperation between the two countries in the future.

According to Mr. Trinh Quoc Tan - Principal of the College of Fisheries and Food Technology, the marine aquaculture industry in Vietnam is a key industry contributing to the country's economy and is also of particular importance to the lives of millions of coastal fishermen. However, for this industry to develop sustainably, it is necessary to apply modern technology, constantly improve the quality of training and enhance the skills of workers.
The handover of these modern training equipment will create an important turning point in improving the quality of teaching and practice for students, helping them equip themselves with practical skills to become highly skilled workers. These equipment not only support the learning process but also help fishermen apply advanced techniques to actual production work, thereby achieving higher economic efficiency in aquaculture.

One of the important issues today is the protection of the marine environment. The application of technology in marine aquaculture not only helps increase production but also protects the marine ecosystem, minimizes negative impacts on the environment, and ensures sustainable aquatic resources for future generations. Therefore, these devices also equip students and fishermen with knowledge about protecting and regenerating the marine environment.
“We would like to thank the Ambassador, organizations and individuals who have supported us in implementing this project. We will use these devices effectively to bring practical benefits to students, fishermen and the community. At the same time, we hope to continue to receive cooperation and support from the Embassy of Japan in implementing advanced aquaculture projects and models, helping to develop marine aquaculture effectively and sustainably,” Mr. Trinh Quoc Tan affirmed.
The College of Fisheries and Food Technology was established in September 2024 on the basis of merging the College of Economics and Fisheries Technology with the College of Economics and Food Technology. Both schools are under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) and have a tradition of more than 60 years of growth and development; have a brand and reputation in the vocational education system of the Ministry and of Hai Phong city.
