(Dan Tri) - US President-elect Donald Trump released his official portrait and immediately attracted the attention of the US media because of its special details.
On January 16, the official portraits of US President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance were released, days before they hold their inauguration ceremonies.
According to US media, Mr. Trump's expression in the portrait has a remarkable similarity to the photo taken when he appeared at the Fulton County Jail in Georgia in August 2023, with a cold gaze looking into the camera.
At the time, his photo attracted public attention and his campaign made millions of dollars selling souvenirs bearing his image and the words "Never Surrender." Despite his legal troubles, Mr. Trump still won the election last November.
On the other hand, in the portrait, the future US Vice President appears with a slight smile on his face and his arms crossed over his chest. Both Mr. Vance and Mr. Trump are wearing dark blue suits and blue ties.
"In just four days, Donald J. Trump will be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States and JD Vance will become the 50th Vice President of the United States, and their official portraits are ready," Trump's transition team wrote in a press release.
This new portrait is significantly different from Trump's portrait during his first term, when he was photographed with a big smile.
Official portraits of the president and vice president hang in federal buildings and US embassies around the world. The photos of Mr Trump and Mr Vance will also be available for sale.
Mr Trump, 78, and Mr Vance, 40, will be sworn in on January 20.
Mr. Trump will become the second president in US history to serve two non-consecutive terms, after Grover Cleveland in the late 1800s. Meanwhile, Mr. Vance will become the third youngest vice president in US history, after Mr. John Breckinridge and Richard Nixon.
