The People's Committee of Nghe An province has just established an interdisciplinary team to comprehensively inspect the operations of Chau Tien Company Limited (located in Nam Cam Industrial Park, Nghi Loc District, Nghe An), after discovering that at least 8 workers working at this stone powder processing factory had pneumoconiosis, of which 3 people died.
A very serious incident, workers died from stone dust in their lungs in 2022 but it was only discovered now. Nghi Loc District People's Committee discovered the incident after receiving reports from the authorities of several communes. When the district received the incident, it saw that it was serious and reported it to Nghe An Provincial People's Committee.
A factory with only over 30 workers, but there are 8 people who are quite young and have only worked at this factory for a few years and have contracted pneumoconiosis, which is very unusual. There is even information that there are other cases of the disease but they do not live in Nghi Loc district so they have not been recorded.

Contacting the writer, some sick workers who are being treated said that although they have to work in an environment with toxic rock dust, the company only provides gloves, does not provide protective equipment for workers, and does not force workers to wear masks. Workers bring their own cloth masks to wear, and when the inspection team arrives, the dust-generating production line is required to stop operating to "evade" the authorities.
The workers who got sick, died and are being treated are all the breadwinners of their families. They are living with illness, some are on ventilators, and have to constantly stay in the hospital, causing the whole family to fall into poverty.
Workplace safety must be a top priority, but in reality, in many businesses, this issue is just an empty slogan. When business owners disregard the lives and health of workers and workers do not realize the danger to themselves, the consequences are too great and cannot be compensated.
