Accordingly, a female patient named Đ.TC (37 years old, residing in Tan Viet, Dong Trieu, Quang Ninh) was hospitalized with abdominal cramps around the navel accompanied by constipation. CT scan and gastroscopy images revealed intestinal obstruction due to food debris. About 1-2 weeks ago, Ms. C. ate about 5 persimmons at the same time when she was hungry.
It took more than 1 hour of endoscopy for the doctors here to remove 2 food lumps in the stomach and 1 lump in the small intestine of the patient.
Physician Bui Dac Sang (Vietnam Institute of Science and Technology, Hanoi Oriental Medicine Association) said that persimmons are a specialty of autumn, used to treat diarrhea or coughs with phlegm. However, persimmons contain a lot of tannins, so they must be soaked carefully and should not be eaten when hungry, especially by the elderly and children.
According to doctors, food lumps are formed due to the accumulation of ingested substances in the form of indigestible solids. Among them, eating a lot of persimmons when hungry is one of the causes of food lumps. This fruit has a sticky resin that creates large food lumps that are very difficult to digest.

From the above case, doctors recommend that people should be careful, especially those who have had a partial gastrectomy, have oral diseases that reduce chewing function, have the habit of eating too quickly, do not eat unripe fruits with astringent taste (persimmons, figs, guava) and foods high in fiber...
