AI will create the power to develop the digital economy

Mr. Li Hai, Director of Security, Government Relations and Communications of Huawei Asia Pacific, shared how Artificial Intelligence (AI) unlocks the value of trusted data and made 6 recommendations on governance policies and building security standards for AI and data.

The 16th Vietnam Information Security Day (Security Day 2023) Conference and Exhibition is an important national forum, sponsored and organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications. Mr. Li Hai, Director of Security, Government Relations and Communications of Huawei Asia Pacific (APAC), gave a presentation on the current topic of data expansion: "Innovation and Development - Safety and Trust with Artificial Intelligence".

Mr. Li Hai said that AI is an important tool that allows industries to improve efficiency and productivity on a larger scale through “Knowledge + Data + Algorithm + Computing Power”. Specifically, data is the component, algorithm is the driving force, computing power is the infrastructure... of AI.

Huawei predicts that the intelligent world of 2030 will evolve from today's "Connectivity + Computing" to "AI + Data + Green" with the explosion of digital commerce, gigabit broadband, metaverse virtual universe, pervasive intelligence, autonomous systems, renewable energy, green information technology...

At the event, Mr. Li Hai made 6 recommendations on governance policies and building a trustworthy security standard system for AI and data, such as: The government takes the lead in building national cybersecurity strategies, regulations on data storage locations and protecting national cyberspace sovereignty; The government needs to strengthen integration and cooperation to create a common cloud computing infrastructure platform, a unified data exchange and sharing platform, and a unified service platform; The government takes the lead in establishing management mechanisms, auditing standards, security and certification systems. Establishing a safe network environment for the government, businesses and people plays an important role in promoting national digital transformation...

With GenAI (Generative AI), the world is at a turning point in the digital age. GenAI democratizes the use of AI, empowers all workforces, facilitates innovation and creates new business opportunities for both the public and private sectors. It can be said that GenAI is a “game changer” with a major impact on the economy and society, boosting productivity and output by over 18%.

Mr. Li Hai affirmed that the competitiveness of each country's digital economy depends on its per capita computing power and vice versa, computing power infrastructure has also become the new engine of each digital economy. It is predicted that AI can increase computing power by 500 times. Therefore, more than 50 countries have included the goal of promoting cooperation and innovation, building AI policies and standards in their national digital transformation strategies.
