Diversify the content of propaganda and dissemination to raise awareness and change behaviors on gender equality among the people, introduce models and services to support the implementation of gender equality and prevent gender-based violence in the locality, replicate good examples and positive influences in the community, attract the participation of men, boys, and students of ethnic boarding schools in gender equality activities; actively fight and refute false information about gender equality in Vietnam. Enhance the position of women, especially ethnic minority women in the family and society; reduce gender gaps in regions and localities with gender inequality or high risk of gender inequality; move towards eliminating outdated gender views in ethnic minority communities in the province. Decision No. 658/QD-UBND is a further concretization step of Plan No. 8157/KH-UBND on implementing the Project "Supporting gender equality activities in ethnic minority areas for the period 2018 - 2025" signed in 2018, since which every year, the Provincial Ethnic Committee has concretized the contents of the Project through many diverse and rich programs and activities, with many remarkable results. In the period of 2020-2023, the Provincial Ethnic Committee coordinated with localities and units to organize 22 conferences to disseminate and popularize laws on gender equality for grassroots officials, village elders, village and hamlet chiefs, prestigious people, women's associations, youth unions, village and hamlet Front working committees, people living in ethnic minority areas and students of ethnic boarding schools; built 3 radio programs on gender, gender equality and domestic violence prevention in 7 languages (Kinh, Ede, M'nong, Gia Rai, Ba Na, Xo Dang, Co Ho) broadcast on the radio of the Voice of Vietnam; built and broadcast 2 television reports on "Gender Equality" and "Domestic Violence Prevention" in 3 languages Kinh, Ede, M'Nong to propagate in ethnic minority areas; distributed nearly 6,200 Q&A handbooks, hung 20 visual propaganda banners on gender equality and domestic violence prevention; at the same time, deployed 2 pilot models on gender equality in Dak Phoi commune (Lak district) and Yang Mao commune (Krong Bong district). Up to now, the tasks of the Project "Supporting gender equality activities in ethnic minority areas for the period 2018-2025" in the province have basically completed a number of goals, such as: 100% of cadres and civil servants working on ethnic affairs at the provincial level, over 50% of cadres working on gender equality at the district and commune levels and 80% of prestigious people, village elders, village heads, hamlets, and unions in villages and hamlets have been disseminated the law on gender equality, trained, fostered knowledge, and improved capacity to organize the implementation of policies and laws on gender equality; 90% of ethnic minority villages and hamlets have been educated on life skills and gender equality. This has created a strong change in people's awareness. The position and role of women in the family and society have been increasingly affirmed; educational level, professional capacity, material and spiritual life have been improved, contributing positively to the development and progress of ethnic minority areas in the province. Photo: Communist Party Newspaper[/caption] In addition to the achieved results, gender equality work in ethnic minority areas in the province still has limitations and difficulties such as: the implementation of the Law on Gender Equality in some units, localities and establishments is still slow; the rate of female unemployment is still high, many women still lack knowledge about family health care; overcoming the situation of early marriage, illiterate women, and re-illiteracy in ethnic minority areas is still slow; some Party committees and authorities have not really paid attention to the work of female cadres, so the contingent of female cadres is still lacking and weak; The awareness of some localities and mass organizations about gender equality work is still formal and lacks initiative... According to the Dak Lak Provincial Ethnic Committee, in the coming time, to improve the effectiveness of gender equality activities in ethnic minority areas, Party committees and local authorities need to increase support and allocate funding for gender equality activities; proactively and actively build a coordination mechanism to effectively implement Resolution No. 28-NQ/CP dated March 3, 2021 of the Government on promulgating the National Strategy on Gender Equality for the 2021-2030 period; Plan No. 8157/KH-UBND dated September 25, 2018 of the Provincial People's Committee on implementing the Project "Supporting gender equality activities in ethnic minority areas for the period 2018-2025" associated with the implementation of national target programs, focusing on Project 8 "Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children" under the National Target Program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021-2030, phase I from 2021-2025. Dak Lak also needs to further promote information, propaganda, dissemination and education to raise awareness of the whole society about gender equality; enhance the position of women in all fields through enhancing women's participation in leadership and management in agencies, units and localities; implement equality between men and women; Integrate gender equality issues in the development of legal documents associated with appropriate mechanisms, policies, programs and projects; strengthen activities to help ethnic minority women promote their strengths and be proactive in life, thereby improving their knowledge, economic ownership, and gradually accessing full development opportunities.
