DNVN - The report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development at the press conference on the results of the first 6 months of the year and some key tasks for the last 6 months of 2024, on the afternoon of June 28, said that in the first half of 2024, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports reached 29.2 billion USD.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in the first 6 months of the year reached 29.2 billion USD, an increase of 19% over the same period in 2023.
Of which, the main agricultural products group was 15.76 billion USD, up 24.4%; main forestry products were 7.95 billion USD, up 21.2%; aquatic products were 4.36 billion USD, up 4.9%; livestock products were 240 million USD, up 3.8%. Production inputs alone were 904 million USD, down 1.8% and salt was 2.3 million USD, down 1.7%.
The report at the press conference said that the US, China and Japan continue to be the three largest export markets for Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery products.Contributing to that result, there were 7 products and product groups with export value reaching over 1 billion USD (coffee, rubber, rice, vegetables, cashew nuts, shrimp, wood and wood products). Rice and cashew nuts were 2 products that increased both export volume and value. Specifically, rice exports reached 4.68 million tons (up 10.4%), value 2.98 billion USD (up 32%); cashew nut exports reached 350 thousand tons (up 24.9%), value 1.92 billion USD (up 17.4%).
Coffee alone decreased in volume (reaching 902 thousand tons, down 10.5%), but thanks to the average export price increasing by 50.4%, the export value reached 3.22 billion USD (up 34.6%).
Regarding export markets, the US, China and Japan continue to be the three largest export markets for Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery products. Export value to the US market accounted for 20.7%, up 20.8%; China accounted for 20.2%, up 9.5% and Japan accounted for 6.7%, up 5%.
On the other hand, the total import turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products was about 20.92 billion USD. The trade surplus of the entire agricultural sector reached about 8.28 billion USD, an increase of 62.4%.
Of these, the five commodities with the highest trade surplus include: wood and wood products; coffee; vegetables; rice; shrimp. The five commodities with the highest trade deficit include: animal feed and raw materials; cotton of all kinds; products from agricultural products; corn; wheat.
