Help children love books more

In the joyful atmosphere of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the festival opened up a rich reading space, where students had the opportunity to access many meaningful books, especially works written about national history. One of the highlights of the event was the exchange and introduction of the photo book "Heroic Moments", recording valuable images of the great historical moment of the nation, the day the South was completely liberated. "Hearing the speaker tell the stories behind each photo in the book Heroic Moments, I admire and am grateful to the previous generation even more", shared Nguyen Minh Anh - a student of Le Thanh Ton High School.

At the festival, children also participated in the battlefield simulation game "I am a liberation soldier". Dressed as soldiers, they participated in creative and attractive simulation activities, including: Overcoming obstacles to load ammunition; crawling through tunnels; bandaging wounds for teammates; entering the Independence Palace... Thereby, arousing excitement and patriotism in children. Pham Thao Anh - a student of Thai Nguyen Secondary School said: "Hearing the introduction of books about the day of liberation of the South, reunification of the country and experiencing the simulation game of mock battles, I love my country much more. Experiential activities help us remember the knowledge in books more deeply and longer".

According to Mr. Chu Minh Phuong - Secretary of Nha Trang City Youth Union, in the current context, when technology is developing strongly, maintaining and spreading the habit of reading is an important task. Books are not only a source of knowledge but also a place to nurture the soul and personality of children. Therefore, to encourage and create excitement for young people, this year, the Organizing Committee has combined book introductions with practical experience activities to help the young generation approach history and culture in a deeper and more inspiring way.

From the activities, it can be seen that when combined with visual experience activities, reading books and learning history is no longer dry but becomes closer and more vivid, contributing to nurturing love for the homeland and country in the future buds of the country. "Previously, in activities such as: Camping, training of the team's command board, in big games, the City Youth Union - City Team Council often included experiential activities associated with knowledge and historical events to increase attractiveness and education. This is the first time experiential activities have been combined with the book festival. In the coming time, we will continue to promote the effectiveness of the model, thereby helping to bring reading culture closer to students through creative and lively forms such as: Dramatizing works, simulating history, interacting with authors, experts... From there, contributing to building a young generation who loves books, understands history, knows how to appreciate and preserve the cultural values ​​of the nation" - Mr. Phuong said.
