Press conference on 2024 High School Graduation Exam
The Ministry of Education and Training said that the total number of candidates registered for the 2024 High School Graduation Exam is: 1,071,393. Of which, the number of candidates registered online is 1,014,020, accounting for 94.66% of the total number of candidates; the number of candidates registered directly is 57,373, accounting for 5.34%. The total number of independent candidates is 46,978, accounting for 4.38%.
Total number of test sites: 2,323; total number of test rooms: 45,149. The test sites located in the locality where the candidates study help candidates avoid having to travel far, not having to worry about accommodation, creating a calmer, more confident mindset when taking the test, and at the same time not causing pressure on traffic in big cities.
The percentage of candidates taking the exam was over 99% in the three exams of Literature, Math, Foreign Language, and the Natural Science exam. However, in the Social Science exam, the percentage of candidates taking the three component subjects was only over 95%.
This year's exam was conducted seriously to ensure order and safety. According to reports from localities, the exam was conducted at all exam locations as planned. Statistics reported by localities and inspection teams show that during the entire exam, 30 candidates violated the exam regulations and were suspended from the exam for using documents and bringing phones into the exam room; 0 officials violated the exam regulations. Up to this point, there have been no recorded cases of negative behavior or organized cheating nationwide.
Preliminary assessment, the 2024 High School Graduation Exam took place in quite favorable weather conditions across the country. Preparations for the exam were carried out proactively, urgently, thoroughly, thoughtfully, and comprehensively. The organization of the exam at all exam locations ensured safety, seriousness, and compliance with the Plan, meeting the requirements for a compact and practical exam. The exam was organized seriously, honestly, objectively, safely, and in accordance with regulations, ensuring convenience and fairness for all candidates.
The exam work is carried out seriously, safely and confidentially from the central to local levels. The exam basically meets the requirements for organizing the exam. According to the initial assessment of candidates, teachers and public opinion, the exam papers/subjects are in the high school program, with appropriate differentiation to ensure accurate and objective exam results used to consider recognizing high school graduation and provide data for universities and vocational education institutions to use for enrollment in the spirit of autonomy.
The Examination Steering Committees at all levels have strengthened the inspection and examination of the organization of examinations at examination sites, promptly detected, reminded and supported the overcoming of limitations and shortcomings in the process of organizing examinations to strengthen examination discipline and maintain strict examination room discipline. Some shortcomings in the performance of duties by examination staff have been promptly remedied. Violations of the Regulations by candidates have been promptly detected and handled in accordance with the provisions of the Examination Regulations, ensuring the seriousness of the Examination.
After the exam organization is completed, the departments will conduct the exam marking and prepare for the announcement of the exam results, expected at 8:00 a.m. on July 17, 2024. After that, the localities will conduct graduation exams for students taking the exam and use the graduation exam results to consider university and college admissions according to the enrollment plan.
