On the afternoon of September 22, 10 victims of the mini apartment fire on Khuong Ha Street were discharged from Bach Mai Hospital. Of the 10 patients discharged today, the oldest is 81 years old and the youngest is only 7 years old.
"We congratulate the first 10 patients discharged from the hospital. We hope that the patients will put aside their grief and take care of their health and that of their families," Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co - Director of Bach Mai Hospital said during the discharge ceremony for the 10 patients of the mini apartment fire in Khuong Ha.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, one of the 10 people discharged from the hospital, shared that the fire left him without a home to return to, but fortunately, all 4 family members were safe and were all taken to Bach Mai Hospital for emergency treatment.
"We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Bach Mai Hospital for actively treating my family," Mr. Hung said, sharing that it will take a long time for life to return to normal, but he believes that as long as the whole family is together, they will overcome all difficulties.
Mr. Hung and his family of four will live at his wife's house while they look for a new place to live so their children can return to school.
The patients were discharged from the hospital.
Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Van Giap - Deputy Director of Bach Mai Hospital informed that in the early morning of September 13, the hospital received 26 victims, including 2 critical cases, coma and severe respiratory failure, whole body purple and black, 2 people with multiple injuries, 7 children, the youngest 8 months old and 1 elderly person with many underlying diseases.
A few days later, the unit received 5 more cases transferred from home and other hospitals in Hanoi. The total number of cases treated was 31.
As soon as the first patient was admitted, Bach Mai Hospital activated the emergency system, concentrating all resources, supplies, and equipment to ensure rescue. Most of the patients admitted to the hospital were in a state of CO poisoning. In addition, some people jumped from high floors and suffered multiple injuries and trauma.
The hospital established a special task force with experts in many fields, emergency, anti-poison, pediatrics, neurology, and psychiatry. All victims were assessed comprehensively from the cardiovascular, neurological, brain, respiratory systems when inhaling toxic smoke, and treated according to their expertise.
In addition to the 10 discharged patients, the remaining 21 patients continue to be monitored, treated with hyperbaric oxygen to prevent brain complications due to CO poisoning, and receive psychological therapy.
Today, hospital doctors performed surgery on a patient who was injured after jumping from the 9th floor to the 6th floor of the building next door.
Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co hopes that patients will put aside their grief and take care of their health and that of their families.
Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co added that of the 31 victims of the mini apartment fire who were hospitalized, 4 victims were in critical condition.
As of this morning, there is only one seriously ill person, Major NVC (border guard), who has severe CO poisoning, is being intubated, still on a ventilator, not out of anesthesia, and is being monitored at the Intensive Care Center.
“We are consulting with foreign experts to try to save the patient,” Mr. Co said, adding that the remaining three are recovering well.
In the process of treating the fire victims, in addition to their health, the hospital also cares about their lives and mental health.
People whose relatives have unfortunately met with an accident and face many psychological traumas are supported by the hospital to deal with psychological problems so they can rest assured during treatment.

From September 14 to September 22, the hospital received 5 more cases (most had symptoms of smoke inhalation, a few had symptoms of CO poisoning). Currently, Bach Mai Hospital received a total of 31 patients, 1 severe case in intensive care, 1 case of heel injury, 19 cases with improvement needing further monitoring, 10 cases are stable and discharged .
