Netherlands-based booking app Booking.com on August 13 announced a list of the 10 domestic destinations most chosen by Vietnamese tourists on the occasion of National Day, September 2. The statistical data is based on searches, bookings and check-ins from August 31 to September 3.

According to Booking , in order to make the most of the upcoming long vacation, Vietnamese tourists tend to choose experiences that satisfy both factors: relaxation and discovery.

Dalat is the name at the top of the list when it is highly appreciated by tourists for its natural scenery, many ancient French architectural works, cool air, romantic and peaceful space and delicious cuisine.

Thanks to the above advantages, Da Lat has maintained its position as the most visited destination by Vietnamese tourists during National Day for 5 consecutive years. Sa Pa, a destination located in the Northwest mountains, has the same advantages as Da Lat and is also in the top 10 this year.

The remaining names in the top 10 include Da Nang, Vung Tau, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet, Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An, Hanoi, Hue. Phan Thiet is a "new star" when it first appeared in the rankings, partly thanks to the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway coming into operation, helping tourists travel more conveniently and with shorter travel times.

For international destinations, as the holiday only lasts four days and there is not enough time for long flights, Asia-Pacific destinations are the most popular choice among Vietnamese visitors.

Bangkok, Thailand is the most popular city, followed by Tokyo, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong, Sydney, Bali, Chiang Mai. These places all have in common the vibrant city, diverse experiences, rich cuisine and convenient shopping. There are many flights to these places, short flight times.

Varun Grover, Country Manager for Vietnam at Booking, said the September 2 holiday is an opportunity for families to enjoy memorable time together before the new school year begins. This year’s travel trends show that Vietnamese travelers are looking for vacations that combine many experiences, from cultural exploration to relaxing at mountain resorts and sunny beaches.
