DTO - After a period of urgent implementation, Tram Chim National Park has completed the necessary infrastructure items to serve the Red-crowned Crane Restoration and Development Program. This is a key activity within the Red-crowned Crane Conservation Project implemented by Dong Thap province from 2022, aiming to bring this precious bird species back to the natural habitat of Tram Chim wetland.

As the program host, Tram Chim National Park coordinated with the Department of Construction of Dong Thap province to renovate, repair and supplement specialized infrastructure in subdivision A3 - where the red-crowned cranes from the Thai zoo are expected to be received. The main items include: baby crane cages, pair cages, rescue cages, medicine rooms, food storage and surveillance camera systems. In the cages, the grass carpets are renovated synchronously, the water supply system, cage doors, feeding troughs and care support equipment are fully installed. In particular, each cage is covered with orchid nets, surrounded by trees and equipped with a disinfection system at the entrance to ensure biosafety.

Technical staff monitor the red-crowned crane cage area through a 24/7 surveillance camera system.

In the area where adult cranes are raised in a semi-wild form, items such as: planting trees, installing roofs, renovating grass carpets and installing camera systems have been completed. The paths for sightseeing are also designed to be friendly, airy, and convenient for visitors to access without affecting the cranes' living environment.

According to the Tram Chim National Park Management Board, the park has carefully prepared not only the infrastructure but also the logistics for crane care. The food storage warehouse is fully equipped with specialized preservation equipment. Crane food is imported directly from Thailand, provided periodically every 3 months and currently has enough food for the first 6 months.

The monitoring of the health and behavior of the cranes is also emphasized. A central camera system is connected to each cage, allowing continuous monitoring. Technical staff are assigned to monitor, record and report periodically, ensuring that the care process is strict and up to standard.

Tram Chim National Park is continuing to implement phase 2 of the infrastructure system. The bird breeding area has completed the foundation, erected pillars, built walls and dug the inner lakes. The crane breeding area is also under construction, with the foundation and surrounding wall structure completed.

The ecosystem and green grass area inside the crane cage are recreated to resemble the natural conditions outside.

According to the plan, from April 15 to 19, Dong Thap province will receive 6 red-crowned cranes from Thailand and take them to Tram Chim for care. This event not only marks an important step forward in conservation work but also strongly spreads the message of preserving biodiversity, contributing to raising public awareness in protecting wildlife, especially in the precious wetlands of Dong Thap Muoi.
