Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên21/05/2024

On the evening of May 21, the railway industry mobilized passenger vans to transport passengers affected by the landslide at the Chi Thanh railway tunnel from Tuy Hoa station (Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen) to La Hai station (Dong Xuan district, Phu Yen) and vice versa to continue their journey.

Accordingly, about 340 passengers on train SE8 (from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi) were transferred by bus from Tuy Hoa station to La Hai station and 220 passengers on train SE5 from La Hai station to Tuy Hoa station.

Passenger vans were mobilized to transport passengers after the landslide at the Chi Thanh railway tunnel.

According to Thanh Nien reporters, from 5:30 p.m. on May 21, the railway industry began to transfer the first passengers on train SE8 from Tuy Hoa station to La Hai station, a distance of about 50 km. Many people who missed their journey due to the landslide at Chi Thanh railway tunnel were very excited to continue their journey.

"I took the SE8 train from Ho Chi Minh City to Thua Thien Hue, arriving at Tuy Hoa station at 4:20 p.m. on May 21. Due to a landslide at the Chi Thanh railway tunnel, I had to take a shuttle bus to La Hai station to continue my journey. We were informed that it would take about 1 hour to get to La Hai station. Although it was later than the scheduled time, this was an unexpected incident and the railway industry tried to fix it," said Ms. Le Thi Dinh (52 years old).

Le Thi Bich Thuong (23 years old, Ho Chi Minh City) took the SE22 train arriving at Tuy Hoa station at 9:00 p.m. on May 21 and had to quickly get on a shuttle bus to La Hai station to catch the trip to Da Nang City. Le Thi Bich Thuong shared: "When I arrived, everything was quite proactive, there was a shuttle bus waiting to take everyone to La Hai station. I was also informed about the landslide at Chi Thanh railway tunnel, so I had to take a bus to La Hai station instead of going straight like usual."

Mr. Tran Viet Tung, Director of Nha Trang Railway Transport Branch, said: "After receiving the report of the landslide incident at Chi Thanh railway tunnel, we mobilized passenger vans to transport passengers. By 9:30 p.m. on May 21, we had requisitioned 18 passenger vans to transport about 560 passengers of 2 trains SE8 from Tuy Hoa station to La Hai station and train SE5 from La Hai station to Tuy Hoa station. Currently, the passenger vans will continue to transport passengers until the incident is resolved."

According to Mr. Tung, in addition to the transfer, the railway industry also supports free meals and drinks for all passengers during the train jam due to the landslide at Chi Thanh railway tunnel.

According to the plan of Nha Trang Railway Transport Branch, from the evening of May 21 to the morning of May 22, the unit will transport 2,700 passengers (of 12 trains) from Tuy Hoa station to La Hai station and vice versa by bus.

As Thanh Nien reported, at around 10:30 a.m. on May 21, while the Chi Thanh railway tunnel (Tuy An District, Phu Yen) was being sealed off for renovation, a landslide suddenly occurred. The cause may have been due to prolonged rain in recent days, combined with weak geological conditions leading to the landslide. In the afternoon of May 21, authorities began to fix the landslide.
