On the evening of May 24, some residents of Son Ha District (Quang Ngai) said that for the past two days, there has been heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning and strong winds, causing many acacia trees to fall. Thunder and lightning were accompanied by hail, so people stayed indoors and did not dare to go out.
Stones picked up by people after the rain
According to Mr. Doan Vuong Quoc (in Di Lang Town, Son Ha District), at around 3:00 p.m. the same day, there was very heavy rain, accompanied by thunder and very strong winds.
"Hearing the sound of the metal roof, I opened the door to see that there were many rocks falling down in the yard. After an hour, the rain stopped and many trees in the town had fallen down," said Mr. Quoc.
The sign fell down after the rain.
The leader of Son Ha District People's Committee also confirmed that it had just rained in the district, with many hailstones in the rain. Heavy rain and wind caused many trees in Di Lang Town (Son Ha) to fall, and in some places, hailstones damaged crops of local people.
A large branch broke off.
"After the rain, many tall trees in Di Lang town and acacia trees of people in neighboring communes fell down; no damage to people or houses has been recorded. Currently, the People's Committee of Son Ha district has directed specialized departments and offices to urgently inspect the area, make statistics, and overcome the damage caused by the rain," informed the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Son Ha district.
