Surveying the area, Mr. Daniel Alonso - LJ representative commented that Vietnam is a country with a tropical monsoon climate, abundant heat and humidity, favorable for the development of vegetation. At Ecovillage Saigon River, including Blue Forest, the natural conditions are even more favorable when near the river, with 32 hectares of water flowing through, the source of heat and humidity is even more abundant, the land resources are rich, suitable for many short-term crops such as beans, peas... some fruit trees and long-term industrial crops such as cashew trees... or food crops, vegetables, fruits. The land and water resources as mentioned above combined with the equatorial tropical monsoon climate are more suitable for the development of natural forests.

After the field survey, LJ designers discussed with the director of greenery of the founder of Ecopark to consider developing a landscape ecosystem. The greenery at Blue Forest not only includes some typical tree species of Ecovillage Saigon River but also of the whole area to honor the natural environment of the Southeast.

That is also the reason why the founder of Ecopark made a leap, surpassing his own record when deciding to develop an ecosystem with more than 5 layers of nature, even though he had been very successful with his first project - Ecopark Green City (14km from Hoan Kiem Lake). This project also won the award "Urban area with the most beautiful landscape design in the world".

Forest design with 7 layers of trees

Surpassing his own record, creating an ecosystem larger than 5 layers of trees, at Blue Forest, Ecovillage Saigon River, the founder of Ecopark pioneered in creating an ecosystem into a "forest blueprint" called "7 layers of nature".

The first and highest of the "7 natural layers" at Blue Forest is the canopy layer with a height of over 9m. These are 17 types of trees, shade trees originating from evergreen broadleaf forests, suitable for the soil of the South such as rosewood, red oak, rosewood, nhoi... The second is the large canopy layer 3-9m high, usually wide-canopy trees, with flowers such as: diep, sala, white hoof, yellow trumpet tree and fruit trees such as mango, plum, rambutan, longan, mangosteen.
