(NLDO) - The Vietnamese music market in 2025 is bustling with fierce "battles" but "fairplay" brings professionalism and excitement.
Explosion of "appointments"
Singer Ha Anh Tuan's live concert "Sketch a Rose" will open a vibrant year for the Vietnamese music market in 2025, with 2 shows on March 8 and 9 at Global City (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City).
The third live concert of "Anh trai vu ngan cong gai" will return on 2 nights of March 22 and 23 also at Global city. Although there is no official information yet, social networks are spreading that the 5th live show of "Anh trai say hi" will also be held in March, expected at Van Phuc City.
In addition, many audiences also predict that in 2025, many Vpop stars will organize personal concerts/tours such as: Son Tung M-TP, Soobin or JustaTee. Besides Vpop artists, many Kpop artists have also "taken the opportunity" to book schedules.
Management company YG Entertainment announced that 2NE1 will hold a concert in Ho Chi Minh City on February 15 and 16. This concert is part of the Asian tour called Welcome back, which the group started in Korea in October, currently scheduled to last until February 2025.
Another YG group, BABYMONSTER, has added Vietnam to the HELLO MONSTER World Tour map. The 7 girls will hold a concert in Ho Chi Minh City on May 31.
This is the signal for the explosion of live concerts, of course with professional quality in the near future. In fact, what has been gained from previous live concerts is enough for production units to invest heavily in "cultural business".
Live concert tickets are always "sold out", audiences are exploding with ticket hunting wars, the merchandise market is bustling... showing a clear change in the audience's enjoyment of music products.
The vitality of Vietnamese music is also demonstrated through the explosion of fandom culture (a community of people who share a common idol) and increasingly professional artist support activities, becoming an indispensable trend. These groups not only support their idols but also contribute to promoting music events. They play an important role in creating a vibrant atmosphere and inspiring event organizers.
Talent revealed
The emergence of a new generation of talented artists seems to overshadow the previous stagnant state of the Vietnamese music market. One of the most prominent highlights is the mass production of true music products, including EPs and Albums, replacing the previous single MV products.
The number of albums and EPs by Vietnamese artists (especially Gen Z artists) has increased significantly, changing the face of Vpop and establishing the dominance of a new generation of artists in the market. In addition to new names such as My Anh, Orange, The Thien, m tu, Thoai Nghi, Anh Sang Aza... rappers have also joined the bandwagon. A series of albums such as "421" by Karik, "Nhan Tran" by Big Daddy, "An" by Lil Wuyn, "The Wxrdies" by Wxrdie, "Medicine" by Coldzy, "FLVR" by Low G in collaboration with tlinh...
In the race of young artists, veteran singers cannot ignore. Hong Nhung participated with the album "Public Radio" including 7 compositions by musician Nguyen Duy Hung; Tran Thu Ha with the album "Thin Finger Rivers" including 13 songs by musician Phan Duc Minh, composed by Phan Le Ha's poems; Tung Duong returned with his 6th studio album called "Multiverse" built with an elaborate multiverse concept, selecting works from many different musicians; Nguyen Thao returned with the album "Smile" in collaboration with musician Vo Thien Thanh...
In the era of strong development of streaming platforms, releasing EPs/albums will be more beneficial than releasing singles as in the previous period. Achievements on online music platforms are now also valued by artists, not just competing for views or top trending anymore.
Moreover, with the rise of streaming, artists do not need to invest too much in image but still have the opportunity to make their songs a hit. Therefore, 2025 in Vietnamese music is still the time of EPs and albums.
In terms of music genres, the Vietnamese music market does not lean towards any genre but rather shares the market share equally among all. As singer Ha Anh Tuan shared: "There is no longer a story of every household's star, but each artist will have his or her own audience. People with the same taste and harmony will find each other to share with each other through music." The clear division of audience will be an opportunity for Vietnamese music to develop in a more professional and diverse way.
The research team pointed out 10 new trends in Vietnamese digital music in 2025, in which the prominent trend is "Mix and Match: Artist Groups and Mashups". This is the trend of combining artists in music groups to create creative products, mixing many different genres and styles, bringing a new breeze to the music industry.
The explosion of group shows has fueled the trend of artists from different generations and fields combining in creative mashups. Performances between V-pop and traditional music bring unique variations, from hip-hop, rap to cultural art performances, refreshing music in an unprecedented way.
However, this trend could also overshadow solo artists, reshaping the Vietnamese music market towards promoting collaboration, rather than individual performances.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Anh, Founder & CEO at The First Management, shared: "The rise of music groups brings many benefits to the development of the entertainment industry. Each group performance attracts great attention from the media, thanks to the strength of many artists participating.
However, the launch of star groups like LUNAS and MOPIUS also creates significant challenges for managers, especially in ensuring artist rights and maintaining sustainable operations. Moreover, independent artists will face many difficulties in competing and standing out if they do not participate in these group trends."
The Vietnamese music market has also welcomed many young artists. "The explosion of a new generation of artists is a very positive sign of a new wave of development. Obviously, they are the ones who have created the excitement and extremely new colors of Vietnamese music at this time. We all feel the richness and diversity of Vietnamese music. This is a good sign" - musician Nguyen Van Chung commented.
