According to a Weibo post by leaker Digital Chat Station, the current Xiaomi 15 Ultra prototype does not have many changes compared to the design of the previous model. The device still has a large circular camera cluster, but the position of the lenses has changed significantly. The camera system includes: a main camera, a wide-angle camera and two telephoto cameras, of which the periscope zoom lens is significantly larger.
Accordingly, the main camera of the device is larger than the previous model, suggesting the possibility of increasing the sensor size or expanding the aperture. Currently, Xiaomi 14 Ultra is using Sony's high-end LYT-900 sensor with a resolution of 50MP, 1-inch size. Therefore, Xiaomi 15 Ultra may be the first smartphone to use a sensor larger than 1-inch. Previously, there were rumors that Xiaomi 15 Ultra would be equipped with a 200MP Samsung HP9 sensor - currently present on vivo X100 Ultra for the periscope zoom lens to improve the ability to shoot far away.
According to a leak, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra could be one of the first phones to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC with superior performance that will be launched in October. It could offer two large cores along with six medium cores and will be built on TSMC's 3nm process.
Previously, it was reported that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra has a dual-layer OLED panel, supporting 2K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.
The device will come with an impressive 24GB of RAM and a massive 6,000 mAh battery that can last for 2 days.
The device's battery has a capacity of 6,000 - 6,200mAh, while the back will use imitation leather, fiberglass and ceramic materials.
The product is expected to launch in Q1/2025 with HyperOS 2.0 on Android 15.
