As of early February, except for Eximbank, Agribank and 5 banks under special control or forced transfer (SCB, DongA Bank, MBV, VCBNeo, GPBank) that have not yet announced their financial reports for the fourth quarter of 2024, 25 domestic commercial banks have announced their financial reports for the fourth quarter, thereby showing the picture of banking industry employee income in the past year.

Among them, SHB and MB still maintain the “tradition” of not publicly disclosing details of salaries and allowances for employees. Instead, these two banks only announce “employee expenses”, including salaries, allowances, and salary-based contributions (social insurance, health insurance, etc.). Therefore, the temporary ranking of Vietnamese bank employee income includes 23 large and small banks.

Notably, Techcombank continues to break its own record in terms of employee benefits when the average monthly income of this bank's employees reaches a new milestone: 48 million VND/person/month in 2024, an increase of 3 million VND compared to the average income per capita in 2023.

Average income is understood to include salary, allowances and other income.

If only calculating salary, each Techcombank employee receives an average of 41 million VND, an increase of 3 million VND compared to the same period last year.

HDBank unexpectedly rose to second place in employee benefits when the average income per person last year reached 38.65 million VND.

Although ranked second after Techcombank, HDBank is at the top of the system in terms of employee income growth. The average income of HDBank employees increased by 9.9 million VND compared to 2023. This figure surprised HDBank when it surpassed the group of "big guys" such as BIDV, Vietcombank, VietinBank.

With 38.06 million VND/person/month, the average income of Vietcombank employees ranks third in the system.

The three banks behind are ACB, BIDV and VietinBank with average employee income from 37.59-37.83 million VND/person/month.

In particular, the average income of BIDV employees increased sharply to 4.87 million VND/month compared to 2023.

ACB employees' income mainly comes from bonuses and other income, while salary income is only 13.6 million VND/person/month, a slight increase of 500,000 VND compared to the average salary in 2023.

On the other hand, the average income of TPBank employees decreased by more than 2.5 million VND/month, to 34.144 million VND. This decrease caused TPBank to lose its 5th position from last year and temporarily ranked 7th in terms of employee benefits.

In addition to TPBank, some banks recorded a decrease in average employee income last year, including: VIB, ABBank, LPBank, Kienlong Bank and Saigonbank.

Notably, the average monthly income of VIB Bank employees decreased slightly from VND 32.03 million in 2023 to VND 31.29 million/month in 2024. However, if only considering salary, the average monthly salary of VIB employees increased by nearly VND 3 million to VND 25.07 million in the past year.

However, VIB is still in the Top 10 banks with the highest employee salaries. This list also includes MSB (VND 33.64 million), and VPBank (VND 31.07 million).

In addition to the Top 10 above, some banks have attractive remuneration policies with an average income of over 30 million VND/month, including: NCB (30.97 million VND), Sacombank (30.87 million VND) and SeABank (30.2 million VND).

NCB is also a surprising name when it joins the "club" of banks that pay employees over 30 million VND/month. Compared to 2023, NCB employees' income increased by more than 7.3 million VND/person/month.

Employees of Saigonbank and KienlongBank have the lowest average income, at 18 million VND and 20 million VND/person/month respectively, both down 1 million VND/month compared to last year.

In which, the average salary of Saigonbank employees is only 14 million VND/person/month, while at KienlongBank it is 18 million VND.
