After 20 years (2003 - 2023) of organizing the "Great National Unity" Festival in residential areas, Duc Linh district has been evaluated by the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee as a typical locality in organizing the festival, including many residential areas that have been awarded certificates of merit by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee for their outstanding achievements over 20 years of organizing the festival.
People responded positively
Mr. Bui Muoi - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Duc Linh district said: In order to effectively implement the "Great National Unity" Festival (called the festival) in residential areas, every year, the Standing Committee of the District Front Committee has advised the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee to issue directive documents, put the festival into the program of activities to celebrate major holidays of the year to direct the implementation, assign comrades in the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee, District Party Committee members, leaders of departments, branches and organizations to attend the festival in residential areas. Accordingly, the District Front Committee has selected 3-5 residential areas as pilot areas to gain experience for widespread implementation. On that basis, it has received the people's thoughts, aspirations and contributions of opinions on all aspects.
With their functions and tasks, the government and member organizations have regularly coordinated closely with the Front in organizing the National Great Unity Day. The focus is on implementing campaigns and patriotic emulation movements in residential areas, mobilizing union members, association members and people to actively participate in the contents of the festival to create a joyful, exciting and united atmosphere among the people. As a result, in 20 years (2003 - 2023) of organizing the festival, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels in the district have mobilized 8.5 billion VND from the "For the Poor" fund and other funding sources to support the construction of 80 new great unity houses and many other support policies related to social security, gradually helping the poor escape poverty sustainably. Along with that, the work of building cultural families, cultural villages and neighborhoods is deployed synchronously from the district to the grassroots level, people voluntarily implement the criteria for building cultural families, conventions and residential area conventions. Every year, more than 98% of households in the district register to build cultural families, over 91.4% of households are recognized as cultural families; 82/82 villages, neighborhoods and re-recognized cultural villages and cultural neighborhoods.
The festival is widely celebrated.
According to the Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Duc Linh district, the National Great Unity Day in residential areas in the district was widely organized and went into depth, becoming a beautiful tradition, bringing the work of the Front back to the community, towards each family and each person. Many residential areas have had good ways of doing things, rich, diverse and suitable forms of organization to attract a large number of people to participate, creating a joyful, warm atmosphere, connecting village and neighborhood love.
Many residential areas mobilized businesses located in the area, outstanding individuals, and children living far from home to support the organization of the festival with practical activities such as organizing "Great Unity" meals associated with visiting families of policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious services; presenting "Great Unity" houses to encourage poor and disadvantaged households with more than 85,650 gifts, 9,834 scholarships for poor and studious students. At the same time, mobilized people to clean up the environment, take care of flower roads, repair rural roads, dredge canals, etc. After 20 years of organizing the Great Unity Festival, the residential area of hamlet 5, Nam Chinh commune was awarded a certificate of merit by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the residential area of hamlet Dong Tan, Dong Ha commune was awarded a certificate of merit by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Provincial Committee for outstanding achievements in 20 years of organizing the Great Unity Festival.
The Chairman of the Duc Linh District Fatherland Front Committee said that the above results affirm that the National Great Unity Day has contributed to preserving, conserving and promoting national cultural values, arousing the tradition of solidarity, community awareness, mobilizing the combined strength of the entire political system, the role of the people in participating in building the Party organization, the government, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations increasingly stronger. With the goal of striving for 100% of residential areas to organize the National Great Unity Day every year, the Duc Linh District Fatherland Front continues to innovate and diversify the content and form of organizing the festival so that the festival is truly a widespread political activity, a festival for all people, creating a spreading power in the community, contributing to building and consolidating the national great unity bloc.
