Building an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity so that Vietnamese culture and people truly become an endogenous strength, creating a driving force for national development and national defense is a task that our Party and State pay special attention to.
Based on the objectives of the Project “Preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development” (Project 6) under the National Target Program on socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas, Binh Thuan province is making efforts to restore, preserve and promote traditional cultural values to improve the level of cultural enjoyment for the people.
In the warm atmosphere of the first days of spring, at the cultural houses of ethnic minority and mountainous communes, songs and singing resound, creating a chorus that attracts visitors from afar. It is the youthfulness and joy of young men and women. It is the modernity and grace in traditional long dresses and skirts. It is the sound of gongs, Ghi-nang drums, Saranai trumpets blending together, the dialogue and folk songs... captivating people's hearts.
Traditional folk culture and arts are truly coming alive, promoting good values and contributing to nurturing the soul of each person during the coming of Tet and spring. That result shows the initial effectiveness of Project 6.
Mr. Doan Van Thuan - Director of the Provincial Museum said: To specify the goals and contents according to the plan of the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in 2023 and 2024, the Provincial Museum has opened 3 classes to teach traditional weaving techniques of the K'ho people; 8 classes to teach Cham ethnic musical instruments and folk songs, folk dances and folk music of the K'ho people; 1 class to teach traditional pottery making techniques, 2 classes to teach Aryia singing of the Cham people. At the same time, preserve and promote typical traditional festivals of ethnic minorities, develop products to serve tourism development; build an open warehouse model of the Collection of Cham Royal Cultural Heritage in Bac Binh district connecting with Cham cultural heritage tourism itineraries in the locality.
Fortunately, not only men registered to study in the classes, but also many women and youth union members. Each course lasted 10 days and was in the harvest season, but all students followed the rules and regulations well, were enthusiastic and passionate. Even though the artisans were in their seventies, they were still diligent in teaching.
According to Mr. Doan Van Thuan: “Promoting the implementation of Project 6 has helped people better understand the role and significance of preserving national culture. Continue to promote local propaganda work at the grassroots level, arousing the pride and responsibility of those who are preserving heritage. At the same time, create opportunities for older artisans to pass on culture to the younger generation, contributing to strengthening national unity and contributing to socio-economic development”.
Ethnic minority culture has been and is an important part of Vietnamese culture, a valuable asset of the country, contributing to building an advanced Vietnamese culture with strong national identity. Promoting cultural heritage in the new era not only preserves the original values, but also develops good values to enrich the spiritual life of each person in the ethnic community, while actively contributing to the development of tourism in the area.
