According to Neowin , after installing the KB5034848 package for the aforementioned Windows 11 platforms, various improvements will be available with one of them being support for the USB 4 2.0 standard that provides data transfer at speeds of up to 80 Gbit/s.

Support does not mean all Windows 11 computers work with USB 4 2.0

Installing the package in question will bump the Windows 11 22H2 build to 22621.3235 and Windows 11 23H2 to 22631.32.35. Note that the implementation of USB 4 2.0 support in Windows 11 at this stage will not change much, as hardware solutions that comply with the standard simply aren't available on the market. While the update was made available to Microsoft Insiders in January, hardware manufacturers have yet to respond, as they haven't released USB 4 2.0-capable devices.

To get this experience, users will need a computer equipped with one of the advanced CPUs like the 14th generation Intel Core HX-series that was officially introduced not long ago. In addition, users will need a peripheral device that supports the new standard. As for the USB 4 2.0 standard itself, it offers data transfer speeds of up to 80 Gbit/s, double the 40 Gbit/s that USB 4 achieved before.

The advent of USB 4 2.0 opens up a lot of new potential uses. With this bandwidth, docks or eGPUs can have more features. For example, a USB 4 2.0-enabled dock can add a high-speed PCIe SSD, operating without reducing the bandwidth of other connections. The performance of the eGPU is also not reduced due to lack of bandwidth, and users can connect more high-resolution displays.
