Vung Tau City People's Council has passed a resolution approving the investment policy of 1 pedestrian tunnel from the state budget and 4 pedestrian tunnels from business capital across Thuy Van Street.
On the afternoon of February 29, the People's Council of Vung Tau City (Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province) held a thematic meeting, passing many important resolutions, including a resolution on approving the investment policy of the pedestrian tunnel project across Thuy Van Street (at the intersection of Pho Duc Chinh Street and Thuy Van Street) with a total investment of more than 36 billion VND from the Vung Tau City budget. The goal of the project is to connect residents and tourists from hotels in the area of Pho Duc Chinh, Phan Van Tri, Hoang Hoa Tham Streets and neighboring areas to the beach. This is the area with the most tourists in Bai Sau. With a tunnel length of about 35.5 m, a width of 10 m, a height of 3.6 m; the tunnel entrance is located on the existing Thuy Van Street sidewalk and the park area facing the sea, each side has 2 entrances and exits about 3 m wide.

Thuy Van Street will be re-planned, including the arrangement of 5 pedestrian tunnels to cross the street. |
According to the People's Committee of Vung Tau City, the project to renovate Thuy Van Street is currently being implemented and is expected to start construction in 2024 with the aim of turning Bai Sau into a modern park with many entertainment areas and amenities. The arrangement of the pedestrian tunnel aims to increase accessibility between the works and the park without affecting traffic on Thuy Van Street. The pedestrian tunnel project across Thuy Van Street is a project using public investment capital and is expected to start construction in June 2024 and be handed over in April 2025. Previously, in the project to adjust the detailed planning 1/500 of Thuy Van Street approved by Vung Tau City, 8 pedestrian tunnels will be invested in, of which 3 tunnels will use the state budget and 5 tunnels will use socialized capital. However, Vung Tau City later decided to reduce the number of pedestrian tunnels across Thuy Van Street to 5, of which 1 tunnel will use the budget, the remaining 4 tunnels will mobilize businesses to sponsor investment costs. On the morning of February 29, the People's Council of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province also held the 18th session (special session) and passed a resolution on the investment policy for the project to renovate Thuy Van Street. In the submission, the Appraisal Council requested the People's Committee of Vung Tau City to be responsible for reporting to the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee and the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee to consider and give opinions on the changes from 8 tunnels to 5 tunnels before establishing and approving the investment project.
