Graceful flamingos at the Hong Leong Foundation Crimson Wetlands
However, a pleasant surprise awaited us at the world's largest flamingo sanctuary.
Check in with flamingos
Afternoon tea is ready in a small restaurant with a view overlooking the entire Hong Leong Foundation Crimson Wetlands, with a beautiful artificial waterfall, forests surrounding the wetland grassland - "home" to American flamingos, scarlet macaws, scarlet ibis...
In the center of the area, flocks of flamingos are leisurely foraging, playing, and mating… in the world's largest flamingo reserve.
Not far away, wild ducks were swimming in the reeds, and on the tall green trees were flocks of red ibises perched, looking from afar like brilliant flowers...

This is just one of eight areas of Bird Paradise, one of Asia’s largest bird parks, which opened in May 2023 at the Mandai Wildlife Sanctuary in Singapore. The 17-hectare bird park is home to 3,500 birds from 400 species, 24% of which are endangered.
Visitors will be able to see birds in eight different zones, with landscapes that mimic their natural habitats from around the world, such as flooded grasslands, bamboo forests and tropical rainforests. Each zone faithfully recreates different ecosystems from around the world, from African rainforests, South American swamps, Southeast Asian rice paddies, to dry Australian eucalyptus forests…

Bird care, research and conservation are important at the park, with a focus on Asian songbirds and flamingos. Home to over 20 species, Bird Paradise is recognised as the world’s largest flamingo sanctuary. The park is currently involved in over 75 global breeding and conservation programmes, with some projects having direct links to regional conservation projects.
The largest area of the park, 1.55 hectares in size, Rwanda Nyungwe Forest Heart of Africa is designed to be inspired by an African jungle valley, with an observation tower, suspension bridge, Congo-style tents, ancient trees such as fig trees and winding streams. Here, visitors will encounter more than 80 species of African birds, from grey-backed parrots to starlings and turac birds...
Or the Kuok Group Wings of Asia area honors the diverse ecosystem of Southeast Asia by recreating bamboo forests, steep rice terraces, and structures inspired by Bali and Thailand, turning this area into an ideal habitat for black-faced swans, Mandarin ducks, starlings...

City in nature
With the motto Singapore - turning passion into reality, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) launched the global Made in Singapore campaign in September 2023 to breathe new life into the already familiar destination brand, from iconic attractions to little-known "hidden gems".
In particular, STB emphasizes the message of a city in nature. Singapore is striving to become a sustainable urban destination, where large-scale experiences are managed and operated to minimize environmental impact. In addition, tourism activities will be combined with unique sustainable or wellness experiences.
In addition, STB also emphasizes a modern and multicultural destination, vibrant and creative to bring visitors unexpected and unique experiences.
