10 people died in the accident: 3 victims have been discharged from the hospital

As of February 20, 3 victims of the accident that killed 10 people were discharged from Quang Nam Central General Hospital. The remaining patients are progressing well.

On February 20, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hung, Deputy Director in charge of Quang Nam Central General Hospital, said that the health of the patients being treated after the accident that occurred on February 14 has stabilized.

"The most seriously injured patient, Mr. Le Van Nop (41 years old), suffered a traumatic brain injury and is now stable, has been removed from the ventilator, and is conscious. However, we still keep this person in the intensive care unit for further monitoring," said Dr. Hung.

Today, two people were discharged from the hospital, including Ms. Pham Thi Mai (63 years old, from Nghia Ha commune) and Ms. Tran Thi Bong (60 years old, from Nghia Dung commune, both in Quang Ngai city). Ms. Mai was hospitalized with two broken ribs and a head injury. Ms. Bong was hospitalized with a concussion. Last weekend, the hospital discharged the first victim of the accident.

As of today, 3 people involved in the accident have been discharged from the hospital. On February 21, Mr. Duong Ngoc Ky (54 years old) and his wife, Mrs. Le Thi Tin (48 years old, in Nghia Hoa commune, Quang Ngai city) will also be discharged from the hospital. As for the remaining 6 patients, their health is improving.

The accident occurred at around 4am the same day on the road leading to Tam Hiep port in Tam Hiep commune, Nui Thanh, Quang Nam.

Through initial investigation of the scene, the police determined that the passenger car with license plate 76B - 006.60 traveling from Quang Ngai to Da Nang, carrying 21 people, collided with the tractor trailer 92H - 004.33, 92R - 004.69 driven by Mr. Tran Minh Nhat (41 years old, residing in Tam Xuan 1 commune, Nui Thanh district, Quang Nam province) traveling in the direction of Truong Hai Overpass - Tam Hiep Port.

The strong collision killed 6 people on the spot (including the driver and the bus assistant), 4 victims died at the hospital. In addition, 11 other injured people were taken to the emergency room.

The Ministry of Public Security was assigned to direct the Quang Nam Provincial Police to urgently investigate and verify the cause; direct the police, units and localities to tighten control and strictly handle the act of transporting more people than the prescribed number, including handling the responsibility of vehicle owners and transport businesses when violations and similar incidents occur.

According to the Vietnam Register, the tractor has a yellow license plate 92H-004.33; the owner of the vehicle according to the registration is Chu Lai Truong Hai Road Transport Company Limited. The vehicle was last inspected on June 4, 2021 at the Motor Vehicle Inspection Center 9201D and is valid until June 3.

Semi-trailer (carrying container) with white background registration number 92R-004.69 was last inspected on October 13, 2022 at Motor Vehicle Inspection Center 7603D (Quang Ngai), inspection period until October 12.

Meanwhile, the passenger car has yellow license plate 76B-006.60; the owner of the car according to the registration is Cao Van Cuong in Quang Ngai City; the number of people allowed to carry (seated, including the driver) is 16. The car was last inspected on November 8, 2022 at the Motor Vehicle Inspection Center 7601S (Quang Ngai), with an inspection period until May 7.
