Visiting the orange garden on the hill of Ms. Ngo Thi Kim Oanh, Director of Nam Phong Company and Hotel, in Tan Yen town, Ham Yen district, we were impressed by the immense green color full of vitality of the garden, dotted with the brilliant yellow color of ripe oranges gradually entering the harvest season.
According to Ms. Oanh, she has been in this land for more than 20 years and has experienced many ups and downs with the orange farming model. Especially in the past year, especially during the difficult economic period of the whole country due to Covid, her family was no exception and had to spend frugally to do agriculture... However, thanks to the preferential loan program of Agribank, Ham Yen district branch, Ms. Oanh's family has gradually overcome the difficult period.

Thanks to Agribank's capital, Ms. Oanh was able to manage, not only the orange garden but now she has developed her land into a tourist area combined with ecological agriculture. She proudly said that thanks to the support of the bank, she has realized her life's dream. "In the most difficult time, the bank built a bridge for me to cross the abyss. We are very grateful to Agribank Ham Yen district branch", Ms. Oanh shared.
As a key bank investing in the rural agricultural sector, Agribank has made important contributions to the development of key economic crops in Tuyen Quang province. The most prominent of which is the pomelo in Ham Yen district. Currently, Ham Yen district owns 6,200 hectares of various types of pomelos, with a harvested area of nearly 5,700 hectares. The estimated orange output is nearly 75,000 tons/year. The locality has focused on maintaining and developing strategies towards potential markets nationwide.
Sharing with reporters of the Banking Times, Ms. Truong Thi Kim Hai, Deputy Director of Agribank Ham Yen District Branch, said that Ham Yen orange trees are considered a key tree in the district's agricultural economy. This type of tree has brought great economic benefits to ethnic minorities in remote areas.
In recent times, the bank has launched preferential credit programs to develop the area of this key crop; implemented many solutions to support customers to overcome difficulties during the difficult economic period. By early December 2023, outstanding loans for orange cultivation reached 369 billion VND. Thanks to bank capital, many farming households in Ham Yen district have become billionaires.
Following the investment orientation to improve product quality, Agribank Ham Yen district continues to accompany farmers to develop a model of growing organic oranges and clean oranges according to VietGAP standards to improve the quality and competitiveness of Ham Yen orange products in the domestic and export markets.
Along with the efforts of Agribank, it is also impossible not to mention the close direction of the State Bank of Tuyen Quang province branch with the local key crops. Mr. Trinh Ngoc Tuan, Director of the State Bank of Tuyen Quang province, said that in the past time, the State Bank of Tuyen Quang has directed commercial banks to effectively propagate the mechanisms and policies of the Party, State, Government and the State Bank on credit policies for rural agricultural development; at the same time, advising the Provincial People's Council on mechanisms and policies such as issuing Resolution 003 to support interest rates for households borrowing bank loans to grow pomelos.
At the same time, the provincial branches of the State Bank also required credit institutions to ensure capital sources and meet the lending needs of farmers to develop orange growing areas; and required bank officials to closely follow the actual situation, remove and resolve difficulties of borrowers.
Mr. Tuan also emphasized that the State Bank of Tuyen Quang province will continue to closely follow the direction of the Government and the Governor of the State Bank on interest rates and reform administrative procedures to make it easier for people to access credit capital. The Tuyen Quang banking sector determined that in the coming time, credit capital will continue to play an important role in the development of orange trees in Ham Yen. Accordingly, credit institutions must ensure that they always provide adequate capital for orange growers, and at the same time be ready to lend to other effective projects in the area.
